Now for prime members and cheaper. Makita is an excellent brand. Quality chainsaw. Chainspeed 20m/s, actually 36V. Lowest at camelcamel. No batteries or charger included.

You might say something sensible one day, but it's a risk I'm willing to take. permanently muted.

Nice find, once you have a few Makita tools you don't need more chargers & batteries, means you will always buy more Makita but it's quality stuff.

Wat?
Nearly all Makita stuff is sold without batteries and charger.

If you'd thought about it for 3 seconds you'd realise that people generally buy into a specific brand of battery tool, so they'd have a selection of tools all running off the same battery/charger system.
Likewise the applications are different, a 1Ah drill is fine for me, a trade is going to want a 5Ah drill

On topic, this is a pretty good buy
I gather the UK Army use the petrol Makita, and it's better than trying to chop a log for firewood.

Lots of use to those that already own other Makita 18v LXT kit such as me, why would I want to buy another charger and battery when I already have them for my drill, impact driver and ice cream maker?

Maybe not to you but most tradesman buy tools bare now. They tend to pick a brand and will already have chargers and batteries.

Fair enough, im not a trades man, just wanted something to chop logs with.

No use to me without batteries and a charger.

Gave you the benefit of the doubt on the first post. Obviously I was wrong.

I’m buying it and preparing for the zombie invasion, I suggest you get it too.

can anyone recommend a charger / battery combination please? thanks

If you already have a couple of batteries and a charger then its fine but the 5Ah batteries shown are £64.50 each and the charger is £65 bringing the whole package to £368 and for that kind of money you can buy a Stihl MS251 petrol chainsaw!

Just a thought...I was looking for a decent cordless chainsaw and opted for the Oregon version which was on offer with a second battery and a high speed charger(about 1/2 HR charge time) batteries fit their other cordless tools as well. Eversharp on saw sharpening system too!!

There are lower rated batteries, 3Ah, 4Ah, and non Makita sourced ones too at a lower price. Obviously if you have no cordless 18V Makita stuff you'll need the other items, but as has been posted previously, this is a typical item for those who have already invested in Makita cordless tools.

Please don't buy Makita batteries off eBay. You cannot guarantee the quality or how old they are. Better off buying from a reputable retailer to avoid issues
