They are not going to win any prizes for longevity but at this price for a occasional DIYer absolutely fine. Well found!

challenge stuff is decent for diy

was it an offer in store or did it come up at £15 when you put the code out the catalogue into the machine

Mine has lasted me 8 years for occasional use (for a couple of major concrete jobs and some odd masonry drillings).

Corded will outlast most NiCd cordless drills, not that you could buy one for £15.

Wow. voted hot for the price. not sure about the quality.

btw, what's the difference between the impact and sds?

Impact is a hammer action, you can feel the drill vibrating as it is forced into the material. SDS is a means of putting special drill bits into a special chuck usually fitted to much bigger impact drill/drivers.

Got mine for £25. It's a decent drill for the money, not broken yet. Corded so quite powerful.

Good instore price - but showing 36.99 online - have found other "Challenge Xtreme" branded goods prety basic, but entirely functional.

Absolutely fine for very occasional use, or keep atthebottom of the toolbag for emergencies.

No it isn't qoing to be as exquisitely engineered as a Bosch or De Walt, but you've got half an hour to finish a job, your batteries have gone flat, and there's still a big hole to drill through b*stard hard brick - guess what, this might be just two steps better than sh1te but you'll still get home in time for your dinner!

Good enough to do a few jobs but it will die in no time

can the drill be reversed, I.e. run clockwise and anti-clockwise?

I have a cheap Tesco drill but it only works clockwise ... useless to extract screws...

It is in the description on TESCO

Product summary

1050 watts.
Reverse function.
13mm keyed chuck.
1 gear.
0 - 44800 blows per minute.

I also have this drill and for the price this is a no brainer if you're an occasional DIY'er. I've used mine on timber and brick and had no problems.

Instore in Horsham it is £36.99 so not a nationwide deal it would seem. Great pity.

Sorry to be thick, but is an impact constantly "hammering" so no good for woodwork? Or can impact function be turned off? Have had a hammer drill for years, but never an impact one.

Used this across the summer with a paddle to mix cement for a patio.

Suprisingly it has survived!

The handle is poo though and will break after a few uses.
