Chanel Coco Mademoiselle copy - "suddenly" - Lidl- £3.99

I was listening to radio 4 this afternoon where own brand perfumes were being discussed. The person who was being interviewed worked in the perfumery industry and was very impressed with Lidl"s own brand called "suddenly" by Madame Glamour saying that it smelt very very close to coco by Chanel which costs quite a bit more.

While it wouldn't be worth my marriage to buy this for my wife might be worth a try for someone.

better waiting until half price weekend when its 1.99

Oh thanks I love coco, and would love to wear it more often, so this could be my answer thank you

Bought this the other day after hearing about it. Sprayed some in the lounge & asked Mrs what it was. She said that it was Mademoiselle which is her favourite perfume!! If only I had thought to keep it quiet, I could have emptied it into one of her old Chanel bottles!!

I have been thinking of buying the real version, think I will have to try this.

My god the wife loves it and the perfume

Have worn the authentic Chanel CoCo Mademoiselle for years and this smells so like it. Have bought several bottles from Lidl. Heat added for letting other people know about it

Went to Lidi today, wanted to see what it smells like. They had no tester though all cellophane wrapped *grumbles*

Lidl stinks itself, I wonder how people but fragrances from there.

I've just been to my local lidl and they had none in stock. The assistant said it sells as soon as stock comes in. I decided to buy the body lotion and shower gel set instead, so I could see if I liked the purfume. To be honest, im not that impressed with it. It doesn't really smell of anything, I was even wondering if it was last years stock. Does anyone else have this set and if so is this normal?

Coco Mademoiselle is my fave so I bought some of this last year due to the hype and sadly it wasn't really worth the money! It's definately similar to Coco Mademoiselle but it smells cheap and doesn't last at all. In fact, after I sprayed it on, the fragrance had gone within about 10 minutes whereas one spray of the original and I can still smell it at the end of the day! I understand it's a fraction of the price but given how much nicer the original is and how much longer it lasts, it's worth splashing out on the real thing

As somebody else mentioned further up, it goes half price regularly so maybe wait until then if you're wanting to try it..

yeah i have tried it and the smell does not last at all.

My Lidl's always smells lovely, bakery smells really nice, perhaps yours is in a rough location.

hmm, i like a bargain, but if the wife opens up this on xmas morning, I wonder if she will see it the same way....

Got 3 bottles for 1.99 the other week- 2 for the wife, one for the mother in law. All delighted. Seriously my wife has started using this as an every day'er and has had more comments about how nice it is than her expensive stuff!

Lidls are for rough locations. Thats their target market lol. All my life I have been there once n that was enough to put me off

this stuff is rank

One of the biggest supermarkets in Germany... in the uk stock a great deal of EXACTLY the same stuff.

Stop being an idiot.

Heat for 'I was listening to radio 4'
Excellent!

Yep - smells very similar, but no longevity.

That's what she said

Don't generalise... Lidl are a low overhead European Supermarket.. more fool you if you pay higher prices for snobbery!!!

It's very close to Chanel but a fraction of the price, so if it fades just spray more on! - simple! It really does smell very nice and at £3.99 you can be generous with it, but every couple of months it's a 'special' at £1.99 so buy a few bottles then. It's a no-brainer at either price, won't be on 'special' for next few weeks as it was at £1.99 2 weekends ago.

MIL Christmas sorted (_;)

I've got both. Smell similar but lidl's smell doesn't last but for that price still a bargain.

OOO iv been wearing this for years the amount of people who ask me " Have you got coco chanel on" I lie and say.... oh yes......ahem! haha

Ok guys they are probably big in Germany not here. probably they dont waste a single penny on training their staff. I know hukd holds a big fan base for aldi n lidl n I think only thing I see different in those supermarkets is that they are not British

So what, Asda is American owned.

Anyway, I'm glad that you choose not to use Lidl's, more room for those of us that do.

but surely if it really smells like CoCo, then Chanel would sue them for copyright wouldnt they? can you copyright a smell?

A news item on Lidl's, that should educate some of the less informed on this thread;

You can't copyright a smell which is why so many cheaper ones smell like thier more expensive counterparts.

This is cheaper as it has less perfume in (main ingredients are alcohol and water) and there's no advertising campaign or endorsements. Sure it doesn't last as long or smell quite the same so it's up to people's preferences really on what they want to spend.

Not sure what area you live in but any Lidl stores I have been in have certainly not stunk.

Not all Lidl's are in rough areas, and I wish I lived close to one as I would frequent it regularly if I did. You're on hotukdeals, a bargain site, so, maybe climb down from that pedestal you have put yourself on.

dont buy it!! i think it smells plasticy and very artificial. it gave me a headache after an hr. deff splash out on the real deal
