Can I just say this is a fab piece of kit. Unfort no room for it but well worth a look if you are after a new BBQ

Its a good price for a decent bit of kit. Mostly five star reviews (134 out of 200) on one American site and at this price, cheaper than WalMart if getting delivered!

Good find. Hot from me.
It looks ok, but it seems alot of mods are needed to make it a good smoker. As that is the case you can get much cheaper smokers that need the same mods. Personally if I were looking at this price range i'd be looking at a decent bullet smoker (Pro Q) or adding a bit of cash and getting a Weber.

What about this in comparison to the one on this … What about this in comparison to the one on this listing?http://direct.asda.com/76cm-Big-American-Barrel-Grill-Smoker/001629734,default,pd.html

I guess for me it was the comfort of going with a known brand from a company whose business is 'Smokers'.

Looking at the size / weight this one seems smaller and weighs nearly half as much so I would suggest that it is using thinner steel.I would guess that this would mean it doesn't retain the heat as well. However, reviews seem pretty strong though.

So far, so good. I've got a lot to learn! Two spatchcocked chickens yesterday which turned out very well, rolled Pork leg today was okay, ideally needed a few more hours to make it nice and tender.

Can't fault the grill, very solid took about an hour to put together and you will need some help as it's a heavy beast! Can't compare to any other smokers out there as this is my first.

Keeping a consistent temperature is a challenge but I assume that would be the case with any smoker.

Thanks for the detailed review....much appreciated!

That sounds good, I'm hopefully going to place the order later on today.

Did it come packaged securely? I hear loads of horror stories where people's BBQs get delivered with all sorts of dents in the metal as it's a fairly heavy item to transport and gets mishandled

Very well packaged. Everything is broken down and individually wrapped and somehow it all fits in the main barrel chamber! I wouldn't want to have to get it all back in there that's for sure.
Bought one of these as they were on sale, was a bit worried as theyve had a few bad reviews on you tube etc. But fair play it arieved well packaged, no dents, and built just as it should be. Ive already got a landmann old grand tenessee wich is a great smoker, and i feel the highland is the best smoker availablefor the price. Id buy another tommorow . Ps i think they all need a bit of modding whatever price you pay.

I'm currently looking for an outdoor cover for it. There's a few on eBay for around the £40-£50 mark which are specifically made for this bbq. Are you in the market for one by any chance?

Could you do me a big favour mate, could you check the box or bbq for the exact model number for this? I'm currently contacting Char-Broil about an outdoor cover and they're asking for the exact model number as there a few variations that have been released for the Oklahoma Joe which have come out over the years. Asda don't list the model number on their site. I appreciate your help mate

Cheers mate. How much did it cost you including delivery and import tax? I was planning on purchasing it through eBay but it may be cheaper purchasing it through Amazon

I was lucky, the wife has a work colleague who lives on a USAF base so i'm getting it sent there. However, I think it worked out about £38 straight to me from Amazon.

In regards to how I am getting on with it... Not had anymore chances to use it since my initial comments, I will be using it this weekend though and very much looking forwards to it. The challenge is going to be finding the best charcoal that I can and also a good source of wood that isn't overly expensive. No regrets yet though!

I'm going to try a BBQ fatty this weekend: theblackpeppercorn.com/201…ty/
I've had mine a few months now. as others have mentioned about the mods, this is something that can be done with any smoker to improve performance. A tube of vt-153 copper rtv sealant is all you need to ensure a smoke tight seal on all the joints. I have to say I was disappointed with mine as the main lid was not shaped correctly and took a lot of effort to bend it for it to close properly. I got the glass tape to line to openings as the YouTube videos suggest but this just makes the gap worse. I settled for wiping the inside of the lid with veg oil and running a bead of sealant on the body so when I closed the lid it created a perfect seal without sticking the door shut while it cured. I've done a few cooks now and it holds the temperature well when burning wood. I paid £300 and would happily buy another at this price

the part number for the correct the cover is 8259969. I got mine via eBay and it cost around £40 with the current exchange rate and postage. it's not cheap but it's a good quality cover and should last the life of the bbq if looked after
£100 in store now. I was wondering how people have got on with these. I have a pro q and weber smokey mountain, but may get one of these. does anyone have the product code by any chance
