'A grain in the balance will determine which individual shall live and which shall die...'. Darwin's theory of natural selection issued a profound challenge to orthodox thought and belief: no being or species has been specifically created; all are locked into a pitiless struggle for existence, with extinction looming for those not fitted for the task. Yet 'The Origin of the Species' (1859) is also a humane and inspirational vision of ecological interrelatedness, revealing the complex mutual interdependencies between animal and plant life, climate and physical environment, and - by implication - within the human world. Written for the general reader, in a style which combines the rigour of science with the subtlety of literature, 'The Origin of the Species' remains one of the founding documents of the modern age.

Well written book - no bizarre changes of character midway through. Not helpful if you're looking to sell a daughter into slavery.

Great price for an important historical work, HOT as hell, except this book actually exists!

Strange you should mention that, I was just looking for a book to justify that myself. Can you think of one in particular?

Omg This Book Is Full Of Lies Do Not Buy.

The Earth Is Definitely 6000 Years Old And God Loves U.

Exodus 21:7 my man. But don't you dare think about selling your daughter into slavery to work in the fields...Sexual slavery is fine and dandy though.

This has been marked as expired, although I've just bought a copy of The Origin of Species for £2.50

Thanks to the poster!

This has been marked as expired!

I suspect the god-botherers; either that or the almighty did it himself as he's sick of Charlie D. getting all the limelight

Ordered tonight. Definitely needs to be unexpired.
Thanks OP

"I suspect the god-botherers;"

Then whoever did it (lying for Jesus) is in breach of the ninth commandment. I shall await my £2.50 heresy and I'll see whoever marked this brilliant offer expired; in hell.

Cold - The title is misleading.

Last time i researched evolution the evidence wasn't conclusive. If it were religion would be extinct just like if 'God' proved his existence the evolution theory would be extinct.

Strange you think that. Was it Waterstones, £2.50, or the name of the book? You see:

Waterstones - it's a fact
£2.50 - it's a fact (although no QuidCo)
The Origin of Species - it's a fact.

Perhaps your research wasn't conclusive.

There are mountains of evidence, collected from before the Theory of (germ) disease and the Theory of Electricity. The Theory of Evolution still stands.

The trouble with The Theory of Evolution is that it puts the "Blind Watchmaker" (from design) argument down. Conclusively. Therefore negating the "need" for a God to fill the gap. However, it is possible to understand the fact of Evolution and still be a Christian (I assume you are?). For example: The Pope, The Catholic Church and almost all bishops and priests understand the Theory of Evolution and agree with it. Comprehensively.

Should say that I got an email from Waterstones - they've sold out (comprehensively - lol) and they're getting fresh books in from the publisher. They charge the card only when they send it out, so consider this a pre-order

Voted HOT.
