    Charging via a cable is almost twice as quick, so what's the point of the plug that just makes it bulky to carry?

    It's a gimmick for me because of the above-mentioned reason. (edited)

    You don't need to carry a charger with you. Some may prefer it that way. For those who charge it overnight, will not matter it is slow. Also, some will prefer slow charge to protect the batteries.

    If you need to charge quickly, you probably need 2. I'm a bit old fashioned here, I still believe that charging slowly means a longer life device. Not sure if this is still true for lithium ion batteries, but many types were.

    It's still true.
    Fast charging is still inefficient and produces a lot of heat, wearing the batteries out quicker.
