I bought some Chateauneuf Du Pape bottles before and was pretty underwhelmed. It really depends on the year and grapes etc I think, so I would check the specifics before buying. Otherwise you can't fall far wrong with a bottle of Melbec!

OK price, these cheap CNdP's taste very young, it's worth paying the few quid extra for a nice one. I like the signature peppery taste, however with these supermarket cheap ones you don't get that.

Costco often have some nice ones in, I like this one - costco.co.uk/vie…626 and they often have the 2006 year for around £13-14.

I'm no connoisseur by a huge margin, but I do find the supermarket cheap CNdP more Chateauneuf Du Poop.

Thanks some very interesting reading there no absolutely nothing about wine tbh, so its good to read the comments that actually are informative as opposed to negative slurring ! (thats before the wine) lols

It is a 2014 so a bit too young, it need to be laid down for a few years. If you are thinking
of spending up to £10 try some of the Laithwaits Wines, we have had some stunners like the
Australian Black Stump.

I never realised until recently how much tax is taken from a bottle of wine: corksout.com/wha…tle

The advice I have heard is to not buy £5 wine, but rather to look for a price point of £9-£10.

lidl and aldi wines say no more

Don't be fooled into thinking that because it is Chateauneuf it is a stunning wine. All the label guarantees is that it comes from that appellation. As with most wines it largely depends on the vintage. Always remember that "you get what you pay for".:{

Can't go wrong with a couple of bottles of Buckfast. Always does the job.

20 bottle limit? The typical "netmum" is going to want more than a week's supply for this offer.

£10 is the normal price in Asda.
