Hehe. Ah well.

Thought I'd post this as I'm currently raking the internet for cheap HD DVDs.

Oh what bargains there are to be had! :w00t:

thanks for the deal,
march of the penguins, still in stock at hmv, £2.99

The only thing I am jealous about with the PS3 is not being able to play Little Big Planet, I currently have no other interest in it to justify spending £300, but what a game that looks for sure.

Also some at DVDWORLDUSA although a bit more expensive, I think they're imported too.

It's just Amazon's Marketplace sellers - RDVD is simply affiliate links - ignore them.

err not quite..... I voted hot as lets face it it's a great deal. and I love my Blu Rays....

If I had a HD player I would be buying most of these but I waited to see who would win the battle between HD or Blu Ray. Blu Ray won (thanks to the PS3 I suspect) so I bought a Blu Ray player.

so quick question, techy virgin...have hd dvd player- in future just buy normal dvds cause player upgrades picture??

Yes this again lol

The HD DVD is shot and is in 1080p format. The DVD is 480i or incase of the newer ones 480p. Therefore 480p gets upscaled to 720p, but the HD DVD's are a purer version of 720p as it gets downscaled.

Make any sense to ya? There is noticable difference if you compare the two. Check out avforums, for more study

Voted hot anyway, I wants one :-D

Off topic but i really want Bourne Identity on R2 HD-DVD, scoured the whole internet and shops but they want silly money for it.

Any ideas peeps ?

These have been the prices for the last 2 months at least!

You can get Blade Runner from Gamestation for £3.99

why is it all of these stores sell the same titles? surely there was a bigger catalogue of films than this when the format was being sold initially. it seems strange that they all have the same stock left

Theres no such thing as "R2 HD-DVD", there aren't any regions on HD-DVD, never have been, one of the things that made it better than BR... *sigh*.

Finjibuns, I guess it's due to the fact that there is a small market for HD DVDs and a very big stash of discs left in the market. They are trying to flog them for whatever they can get just to recoup some money.

As for the selection issue... I don't think there was. There were never that many studios signed up to HD DVD anyway and most of those bailed very quickly once it became apparent HD was going down. So what you see available now is all that was pretty much ever available up til 6 months ago or so.

Try instore at Gamestation if you have one near you. Should be around £3.99 if they have it.

hey i have hd-dvd and bluray, and im selling my bluray versions of films i can get much cheaper on hd-dvd (300, oceans thirteen etc).

There is including exclusive Spanish,German,USA,Japanese and other country releases all region free. Some are a lot dearer and fetch higher prices than the Blue equivelant. EG resident Evil Extinction. The titles been sold off are the common PAL/USA ones which were produced in large quantities. there are a lot more uncommon PAL/ ones like Arnie films etc. In the long run HD DVD will be a lot more collectable like Betamax is due to its short lifespan.

Highly doubt youll find any bourne other than Supremacy for less than about £15. Only the second film (and Ive been looking as well) is available as a cheap HD-DVD.

damn, £16 for 2001 at rdvd, I'm still kicking myself I didn't pick it up when it was £3 at HMV, doh!!!

Unless they are talking about those strange combo discs where one side is standard DVD-Video (and is region locked) and the other is HD-DVD (and is region free). But i dunno if Bourne Identity was ever released as a combo disc...

Not sure why this is so hot. HD DVD's at play.com have been this price for many months now.

Ah, the pre-emptive whining of the bitter people who hitched their wagon to one HD movie format and got that little bit too emotionally involved with it.

Isn't it just possible that some people voted it cold because an awful lot of these are still available for less money from HMV? (Almost half the titles listed are still available from HMV, ranging from 50p to £2 cheaper).

I had the same problem and got mine from the USA via Alibris.co.uk. Cost about £5. New ones going for around £8 delivered at the moment.

hmv either have no stock or are at 17.99, hence the heat of this deal as it shows you where stock is cheapest altho march of the penguins, charlie and chocolate factory, music and lyrics, getaway, the cowboys are in stock at hmv cheaper (that's not half the titles, only 5 of 19)

yeah and £2.99 at hmv

Wow, they are STILL trying to offload all those HD DVDs. Clearly the format was soundly beaten by blu-ray.
