So it costs £2.93 and then you have to top it up?? Would like one of these as my Dad moved to India in November and would like to keep in contact with him without it costing a bomb!!

Thanks

What does ISD mean chaps?

They cost £0.99 on £0.99 store same like all other network T mobile, o2 and orange, try your local 0.99 store you find them next to the till

I use the access no. 0844 300 3333 to call India both landline and mobile, it costs 1.5p per minute.

Or use NONOH and you'll have a local access number for your mobile

used it, it's completely rubbish, international call is unreliable, i.e if you're lucky, you make successfully the call in the first time. Normally it diverts your call to voice message, although the number you want to call is still in full signal cover, you have to make other calls to get that number. It still charge every minute, even the call is counted 0 second by mobile phone. And so annoying when low credit, you're always reminded to top-up before the call starts.

Go for Talkmobile International
talkmobile.co.uk/
Free simcard with any amount of topup

I used one of these sim cards whilst on holiday in Mexico over New Year, I was able to text and ring home with no problems.

They are only 99p in Home Bargains by the till though

Looks like theyre ok for calling abroad from UK but not the other way round. The Talktalk one is 38p per minute from the eu to any uk landline or mobile.

Both Lebara (Vodafone) and Lycamobile (Orange) are worth considering. Both are 'virtual networks - piggybacking as above.

Apart from the cheap Intl calls - both presently offer £30 credit for £20 - so calls are 2/3 of normal cost.

Lycamobile wins for me over Lebara - because of
1) Prices virtually identical
2) Transfer a number to Lycamobile and get £5 credit and another £2 fr registering the SIM - so a potential £37 credit for £20 spend.
3) Free SMS between Lycamobile and 10p for a 30 minute call between Lycamobile SIMS

Thanks for the info.
