I bought this. Even with adjusted expectations I was disappointed by the quality and performance. Speakers were faulty and crackled and popped, and the screen is near enough unusable.

If nothing else it shows how cheap you can get a 1080p screen on a laptop, so no excuse for main manufacturers to keep using 768..
I guess the processor can handle 1080, but beyond that...

Would anyone spend over a hundred quid at gearbest?

Spend over £100 on any single item to ensure eligibility for UK-based and UK-enforceable replicated merchant obligations via UK credit card company (S75 protection). Why would anyone spend less than a hundred at Gearbest?

yes but if its absolute garbage, I'd still rather have a decent 768p panel

Yep.

This seems suspiciously cheap - is it subsidised with bundled spyware?

No just cheap crap

Cheap enough to be a hot deal but expect to get what you pay for; a very slow, poor performing laptop....with a nice screen

Xbox

You open more than two tabs at once on Chrome and that things will explode.

Should treat this as just a big netbook really. The CPU is a 4w atom, albeit a newer quad core , so likely to be silent.

Maybe compare it to what your money gets for other netbooks and it seems a steal.

Seems a decent deal.....

however just wanted to add I have been waiting 2 months for a laptop from Gearbest with no hope in sight

if you decide to buy a high value item from them, only do so with the knowledge you may be waiting a lot longer than they tell you and only spend what you potentially can afford to lose

But, if you buy with a credit card and it's over £100 you won't lose because the onus is on your credit card company to refund you when things go pear shaped.

Having said all that, of the last five things I ordered from Chinese suppliers only one turned up. Paypal and Amazon came to the rescue the other four times, but it was still a royal pita.

At this time with a lot of sales coming and Christmas approaching, it would be very surprising if this would arrive before 2018.

400 on a Mi6. Wouldn't swap for anything else.

As soon as I saw the name Gearbest, my enthusiasm went down the drain.

Don't forget to keep hitting the Despatch Faster button from your order summary - I did it every day for a week until it was finally shipped and received it last week. I purchased the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro for £160 from a listing on here and it took just under 3 weeks in total.

Decent full metal build laptop as well with the later more powerful Intel apollo lake CPU's.

Cheers

Would this be any use for playing FM on? Not particularly fussed about the 3D graphics etc

As did i, although i dont think that dispatch faster button does anything at all. When you refresh the page its there again.
The laptop quality surprised me and its certainly fast enough do use it for what i intended which is watching media, youtube and browsing the web. The screen is pretty awesome for how cheap it was.

Ok I'll bite. The CPU is fine for 4 or 5 tabs with 4GB RAM. I've experienced it in the Chuwi Vi 10 plus and there were no issues. The main frustration will be the single core performance - complex pages will take longer to render, so it's worth installing the adblock plugin to reduce the amount of processing required.

Import tax. Wouldnt spend more than £15 myself.

Please stop buying this cheap, tax evading Chinese crap.

Decent? Oh really? Plug it in, close the 'laptop' and run your fingers along the top of the lid. Does that feel decent to you?

Gotta wonder what metals there are lurking in that lid too.

This was always my impression too. Since Bay Trail and subsequent Atoms, they've been good performers for very little power consumption (which is why the Surface 3 uses them and gets good reviews), it's not 2008 when slow single-core, mechanical HDD netbooks were order of the day. Some peoples' comments just goes to show how little understanding they really have... probably Intel's fault for continuing to brand them Atom if people show so little common sense and basic IT understanding, and it's probably the same people who think anything with 'i7' written on it must be amazing

Lol.... They have to pay tax in china, you have to pay the tax here. how they evading tax here?

There's comes a point where paying £122 for a laptop becomes a false economy as it's so bad in terms of build, reliability, performance etc. Given the cost of components and production, its difficult to know how they even put this together and make a profit.

MUCH better to spend another £50 and get a EZ Book 3 Pro - that's tried and trusted tech and light years better than this.

The description really doesn't go with the specs. The specs are weak but whoever wrote that marketing material either doesn't know that or doesn't mind blatantly lying to your face. Either buy second hand or be prepared to deal with a horribly slow cheaply made laptop.

This thread also shows how flawed the HUKD voting system is. People vote hot on things regardless of how crap it actually is.

I ordered a smart watch from gearbest and its stuck at Heathrow Airport since mid September.
One thing I'm finding is their support proceedure is very poor. Emails with links that take you to a page that doesn't exist.
Still awaiting a resolution.
The item was approx £12

the general consensus is great until you have an issue.

Voted cold by mistake... Sorry

X5-Z8350 for windows = unhappy performance, web browser scrolling will be slow, open of apps slow.

Minimum process for OK'ish performance is n3450.

Always use PayPal with Gearbest and never use their support. After about 40 days just log with PayPal and force them to refund.

takes forever but better than dealing with Gearbest's templated support robots.

You wait longer, have good day

Delivery take longer than expected you wait more.

Etc

Save up a bit and but a decent laptop where you can get support or return it easily if there is a fault.
This is Russian roulette. A good business laptop will last year's and has option of extended warranties or care packs. Buying cheap costs more in the long run

Specs look great for the price, unless somebody has already bought one and knows differently nobody should be voting this cold.

I've ordered from Gearbest in the past and never had any issues with delivery.
