This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

As far as I can tell this is the two bay version. It won't run Plex or anything like that, but as a simple DLNA server with what appears, unless i've misread, 2 x 2Tb Red drives they're pretty much giving it away.
The bare bones unit is 20 quid cheaper if you'd prefer. The drives are going on eBay for circa 25 quid.
For a bit of networked storage, its a real bargain.

How fast could i transfer a movie from my pc to this, over the gigibit ethernet? And what is the USB3 Port useful for?

Could I portforward this and have external Access to this remotely?

Thank You
Might not be able to run Plex on it but it's network storage so I assume you can add the share to a Plex library.

I'm sure faster is possible, (I'm still using an AM3 motherboard) I've had 60Mb/s between two pcs using Sata 3 ports.

No idea about port forwarding.

That's a bit of a how long is a piece of string question. What movie? What format? Do you like remux Blu-rays? 4K or are you happy with some heavily compressed 720p.

Just for storage. Just simply backing the up and watching on my tv. If it supports DNLA
Won't let me add the 4gb to basket

Yeah - all gone now
Lol.
Only one downside, the mobile application is a bag of sh...t. Very slow and unreliable.

i have a couple of 2tb wd greens woul they be ok in the bare bones?
I have this EX2 with 2 4tb WD purple drives (surveillance HDD’s) and its great. It’s primarily used for backing up other 2tb & 3tb my cloud units that do the serving and everyday home stuff. The only issue is the WD app is ver very poor!
Strange that the 4tb was so cheap in comparison to the 8tb at 159 led 10%. The dif in price between new is 269 and 349 so not double the price.
8tb gone now as well.

Many thanks
OOS?
Thanks OP. Managed to nab an 8TB one
I didn’t need this but would have bought it anyway, so I guess I’m glad it’s out of stock.

Does anyone know the differences between the EX2 (this) and the EX2 Ultra?
At a guess I would say CPU/memory. The Ultra will apparently run Plex Server. Make no mistake though, it will be direct stream only.
If you can live without Plexs front end, and within the simple constraints of DLNA this NAS will do the job. I would expect network transfer rates on either unit, raid level regardless, to be the wrong side of stellar.

Hmmm...not sure you understand your own questions.

1. Depends on movie size, gigabit connection will do 95-110 MB/s.

2. Port forwarding is done on your router so anything with an IP can be forwarded

Transfers will be fine and saturate gigabit LAN.
Its 2 drive RAID end of the day so you are taking RAID0 or 1, both of which are super light on CPU.
Just missed out on this deal. Hopefully it will come back. If not an empty one, I can fit some drives in I have. Wonder Dow it would work with SSD drives.
