A very quick search on Google has flagged up a Wiimote for £23.99 inc P&P from Joolop.com.

Have never heard on them therefore never used them but its still a little cheaper....

Would it be possible to have some kind of system set up on here, that if you give 'heat' or 'cold' then you should give a reason? Lately so much has gone cold for no apparent reason?

Better off buying Wii Play and sell Wii Play game off and you got yourself a remote

Agree with above, buy wii play & get a free remote. Only £27.99 at play.com & you can even save another couple of quid by phoning pc world price match line (they will beta play's price by 10% as their is more expensive = £34.99)

good info posters, thanks

Since when has £26 for a remote control become "cheap"?

This control works using exactly the same principles as a remote that comes with a "supermarket special" DVD player.

If supermarkets can sell a DVD player INCLUDING the remote control for less than £20 and still make a profit then £26 for a Wii control is a bloody rip-off quite frankly.

No wonder Nintendo makes such huge profits with punters thinking that £26 for a remote control is a "bargain"

No it doesn't??? What the hell are you on about? Just cos they both have the word 'remote' in them doesn't make them the same!

Dealextreme have aftermarket remote and nunchuck for about this price.

I bought Wii Play for £26 so this is COLD!

Wow, where exactly did you buy this DVD player that allows you to play a dvd by flicking the remote upwards and to fast forward by flicking it out to the side???

Seems gimmicky but would pay £20 for the novelty

It's just an infra-red signal stupid - hardly nuclear fission:whistling:

Still If people like you think it's a bargain, you'll always get ripped-off:p

The Wii remote is not the same as a DVD remote, simple as. A DVD remote uses infa red signals to transmit commands, where as the Wii remotes uses motion sensor technolgy and game controller commands. DVD remotes are not designed to cope with the complexity of the commands a game controller needs.
Thats like saying an Xbox 360 controller is a rip off because you can buy a tv control for under a tenner.

Sorry to state the obvious, but apparently it needed stating.

the hut have wii play for £27.93 - if buying with another game you can get 10% off bringing it to £25.14 and using 'perks' another 5% off it brings it down to about £23.89.

Can't get quidco with zavvi but can get 1-2% cashback through RPoints.

"The Wii remote works by having a sensor in the remote, and infra red LEDs on the sensor bar. The Wii sensor bar angle matters as it makes the sensor bar look smaller. It already knows how long your sensor bar should appear, so the Wii uses the IR emitted from the two ends of the Wii sensor bar as known points, and from this the Wii can work out how far you are from the TV and at what angle you're holding the Wii remote."

It's an infra-red remote. The Wii itself does the calculations.

£26 is bonkers but they get away with it 'cos people buy them. If people didn't, the price would fall.

Sorry to state the obvious, but apparently it needed stating.:p

PS you can get an XBOX 360 controller for £18

Another quick search on google will reveal joolop.com don't exactly have the best of reviews as some people have been waiting weeks for delivery of stock that as "In Stock"

It's an infra-red remote. The Wii itself does the calculations.

"The Wii Remote has the ability to sense acceleration along three axes through the use of an ADXL330 accelerometer. The Wii Remote also features a PixArt optical sensor, allowing it to determine where the Wii Remote is pointing.

Unlike a light gun that senses light from a television screen, the Wii Remote senses light from the console's Sensor Bar (model number RVL-014), which allows consistent usage regardless of a television's type or size. The Sensor Bar is about 20 cm (8 in) long and features ten infrared LEDs, five at each end of the bar"

"Rapid forward-backward motion, such as punching in a boxing game, is controlled by the acceleration sensors. Using these acceleration sensors (acting as tilt sensors), the Wii Remote can also control rotation of a cursor or other objects"

Eat my wiki

It also has sound capabilities. It's more than a DVD remote.

PS you can get an XBOX 360 controller for £18

I know, thats why I said "Thats like saying an Xbox 360 controller is a rip off because you can buy a tv control for under a tenner." £18 being more than £10, see?

Can't be too much going on in your life at the moment then:p
