If you're as fancy Peanut Butter as I am, this is a deal you should not miss !!

£1.5 for 1kg raw peanuts is a really good deal, can't find cheaper anywhere !

How to make Homemade peanut butter :
- Roast peanuts with skin in a tray for 15 min at 120 degrees in your oven
- let them cool
- use a food processor to blend until desired texture is reached, adding Salt or spices. Do some breaks to avoid your food processor to overheat

I never thought of making my own, thanks for sharing OP
Hot for the recipe alone. So simple and much healthier. is there an easy way to remove the red skins?
OP, you left out the butter in the recipe.

you re welcome

I t s a good way to avoid Palm Oil and **** like that you find in branded one. Moreover if you roast them correctly, with the skin, taste will be awesome, much better than any branded one I tried

You should keep the skin, it contains a lot of healthy stuff, but if you want to get rid of them :

After roasting, remove the skin by rubbing the peanuts together in your hands held over a salad spinner, allowing the peanuts and skins to fall into the bowl. Once the skin has been loosened from all of the peanuts close the salad spinner and spin until all of the skin has been separated from the peanuts.
I had plans for baking huge soft chocolate chip cookies to serve warm with vanilla ice cream... I think I might just throw some peanut butter in that recipe too!

Are you saying female nuts are sub-standard as opposed to men's nuts?

Peanut butter can be used as part of a balanced diet, it has the right kind of heart-healthy fats and is packed full of protein, it makes for a great post-workout snack on some wholemeal toast/cracker to leave you full up and to help repair excercise-damaged muscle fibres.

I usually pay 5.49 for a Kilo of 100% peanut butter but this would be great to try out and see if I could make it right
You need to add oil to the peanuts to make peanut butter.
When do I add the butter?

nothing wrong with palm oil it is very similar to coconut oil and both are very healthy for you. don't just assume because they are high in saturated fats that they are unhealthy, the fats in them are medium chain unlike other sat fats

I believe most people's problem with palm oil is that vast areas of rain forest are being cut down to make way for oil palm plantations, rather than the health issue.
You don't need oil to be added, companies do this to increase profits and pad out the product, peanut butter should be 100% peanuts only

NO you don t need to add anything no oil no butter ... Except salt or spices if you like it

Roast the peanuts, put them in a food processor and blend .
First you will have a powder
Then powder will aggregate . don't hesitate opening the processor and scrap the border of the bowl to make sure everything is pprocessed
Then it will start beginning like an heavy spread go on until it reaches a liquid enough consistency. It takes about 15 min .

There is already oil in nuts - 'groundnut oil' for example.
Cool, thanks for suggestion.

Try them and it won t be virtual kilos anymore
can any of you actually make your own with a normal food processor? I had a £70 kenwood processor, tried to make my own, and it melted some of the spinning joints bcause its so hard to blend nuts.
(i was making almond butter).
You can't beat a jar off Whole Earth crunchy peanut butter especially on tiger bread!
Healthy and nutritious!

Would it be practical to put these through a burr grinder instead? I have one I bought for coffee but don't use it.

I use my grinder for things other than coffee, such as spices. Peanuts … I use my grinder for things other than coffee, such as spices. Peanuts won't hurt anything if you clean it out afterward. And coffee beans are harder than peanuts so you shouldn't damage the blades. However, another way to crush those nuts you have is to place them in a clean kitchen towel and smack them with the flat edge of a cleaver. But either way, you will be okay. Just wipe the grinder out thoroughly after you're done

From Yahoo Answers. Interesting part about the tea towel and hammer, never thought of that.
