yeah, its a joke but should be going down second half of 2018 which is about the same time GTX 2000 and Intel 9000 series/ so i guess that works out for me

Prices are being kept high because there is insanse demand for RAM due to increase of IoT and other things. While people like to shout cartel and so forth, the demand outstrips supply as of now.

The demand for DDR4 DIMMS is actually decreasing, as the desktop market is far smaller than it was.
The big 4 could produce more desktop ram if they wanted, but since it's a more niche market now, they just allow supply to stay low as they aren't shifting enough volume to make money off a low profit margin.
