Just ordered an 8Gb extreme iv got to be worth a go at that price.

Descriptions don't seem to tally with the pictures, not sure if I'm getting what's in the picture or the description but might have a go, thanks!

Just ordered 2 CF 8gb Extreme IV's, can't understand why they're cheaper than the III's. Apparantly come with a 12month guarantee etc as well.

many thanks op for the post i didnt even know memory cards could be refurbished

That indeed is the question - what do they mean by refurbished?

Are these cards that have been returned and given a wipe over the case or a wipe of their contents or were they faulty and then had faulty cells remapped, etc. etc.?

They might be cheap, and they might have a guarantee - but that's not going to save you from the inconvenience (to say the least) of losing a day's worth of photos or more for instance if they go wrong.

I'm interested but sceptical without more information about the provenance of these cards.

Thanks OP just ordered a couple of Pro Duo for the PSP

Wow they all went quick.... someone on here is gonna be busy on ebay. lol

anyone bought from these guys recently ,

there landline numbers does not work anymore. 01384 894777

((( Not a good sign for any business ))) Current climate with companies going tits up.

The memory cards are dirty cheap. Infact to cheap if you ask me.

These guys still in business. ????

So annoyed at myself for not even looking at that email last night !!!

Yup:)

Hot hot hot!

I don't think I'd trust data to a refurbished card. If there was any sort of problem with the card which has been fixed (or an intermittent problem which the manufacturer couldn't detect) I wouldn't like to find out the hard way that there was still a problem. Mind you I wouldn't trust a second hand card either. These things are not all that expensive new. As far as I'm concerned it's not worth the risk.

EDIT - I've not voted cold as the prices are good for refurb kit but I can't quite bring myself to vote hot either!

How do you refurbish a memory card?

frank

These cards smell fishy

None of the good deals left :(.

I ordered 4 x 2gb SD @£1.39. Would have only got one but delivery cost the same £2.79. I am not too worried about them being "refurbs". These small sizes are less desirable these days and they may be simply buying and disposing of old and surplus stock.

BigPockets have been around many years. Now share the same parent company as SVP.

I bought refurbished laser printers from them before - When the came, they were used and broken printers. And they wouldnt take the printers back. Now I have several broken Kyocera laser printers in my dining room! The price is great, but losing the pictures would never ever justify the costs.

Big Pockets has always been a trusted site!!!

Have got things from them before.

i had a really bad time with this company when i bought an alledged refurb'd media player bits were missing the player still had the previous owners photos and vid's on it clearly not refurb'd just put in the box and sent out and i had a lot of hassle trying to get it returned and a refund prior to this i had bought frm them but not since buy at your own peril

I don't think any of these cards will be 'repaired', they'll be returns, overstock or similar. Due to the nature of flash memory I don't think you can go wrong with these.

Flash memory is pretty bombproof but I'd like to see them say what they mean by refurbished. Mind you sold out now so who cares :-D

That's what I was thinking, surely these are dirt cheap to produce, so why bother fixing them?

SanDisk 2Gb SD Card 2048Mb still available at £1.39.

I have a decent card for my camera. I will use these cards for transporting files and mp3 player only unless they actually come in brand new unopened packs.

I ordered a 4GB 133x speed CF card this morning from 7day shop, £8.79 delivered and brand new. So the prices they're quoting from "elsewhere" aren't really right.

I'd rather not take a chance with these ones.

won't get it myself but still good price! hot!

why cold votes? Because people have missed some of the highly reduced cards or refubrished is a problem. I have ordered myself few refubrished cards from bigpockets never had any problem with them. I thought these prices are very good so made an effort and posted this deal. Thanks

why would a mem card need to be refurbished. and how? theres no moving parts are there.

I ordered some cheap SD cards a while back that were refurbs, think I got 6, 5 fine worked perfectly and one didn't work at all (so cheap I just binned it). I would be slightly wary about using a refurb in my DSLR because it would be much more of a pain if anything went wrong.

I actually had a load of these in my basket last night shortly after the email arrived

but thinking about it I got edgy about "refurbs", suspect they are returns and just passed on in bulk to a reseller with no refurb being carried out

I was only going to use them to transfer files from one machine to another, in the end I decided it wasn't worth the hassle, can get brand new ones for not much more money and a few quid here and there for peace of mind is worth it

what does refurbished mean ???
have these cards been used before or are they cheap imitations?
i was informed by an advisor at jacobs photo-video that there are fakes on the market

they can. they wash and spray paint them.

Did anyone actually receive their order as i received no email but just a refund no clue why :x

yep i got mine, but i ordered an extreme 4 and got a 3 so complained and got 50% of the money back.

I ordered and received 2 2gb sd cards, 2 1gb pro duo and two 8gb extreme 2 cards. they sent me extreme 3 instead, which were showing out of stock so was well chuffed.
