Wow! a Samsung dual sim UNLOCKED phone sold in Asda for only £49.................. HOT.

I was about to 'Add to Basket' but quickly read the camera is only 2MP which is a let down.

Screen size is 3" which ain't to bad.
3G & 2G.
It has GPS.
CPU Speed: Cortex A9 850MHz.
Memory: 512MB RAM.
4GB Storage.

The price is certainly attractive.

Running Android, Yes! I would defiantly say so.

Good brand and from a well known UK retailer....................... you cant go wrong.

specs seems similar/better to galaxy y (single sim only), which is selling at £30-£40.

with this being dual SIM, seems very good price. I can have ovivo and another sim

The picture of phone on ASDA website shows it as 'DUOS' and that is Samsung's badge for all dual SIM phones around the globe. So its certainly the dual-sim phone.

Good phone at this price point. Just to keep it as spare or to use as wi-fi hotspot while on holidays with data only sim cards.

Good spotting, I missed the duo signal bars in the pic.

So we can pretty much agree the phone being sold by Asda is dual sim.

Online shops or physical shops it makes no difference. I'm in the electronics and mobile phone business and it's not illegal so stop spouting rubbish because you do not know what you're talking about. Please put up the evidence that it's illegal to sell dual sim phones in UK shops or be quiet.Carphonewarehouse have been selling the ALCATEL 217D dual sim for ages in their SHOPS.

Why they are not sold everywhere is because the network providers lose money if someone uses them as discussed in this article

electricpig.co.uk/201…ut/

And if you remember it was Tesco and Asda that also said there was no horse meat in any of their products...............

If it's not dual sim ASDA have the photo and model number both wrong, their listing for the SAME phone PAYG on Orange say

• Enhanced Dual SIM Experience (Multi-SIM Widget + Preferred SIM Setting)

I have also just phoned ASDA who told me it WAS the twin sim model.

To be honest that article is pointless, the only difference in having a dual sim phone is the convenience of having just the one phone instead of carrying two around. To say you are bypassing the networks by having a dual sim phone is silly, people have been doing this for years and still do (its called having two phones).

I have ordered one of these so will let you know tomorrow if this is dual sim.

since you have used dual android phones, what is your view on this one?.

I am planning to put OVIVO sim (data) in one slot and Orange payg SIM in another slot. I will be using data in OVIVO rarely, but will be receiving calls in PayG SIM frequently.

I have owned many of the non brand Chinese dual sim clones which all eventually suffered OS start-up failure, while the phones were working the idea of dual sim was great, but soon encountered problems with signal, making and receiving calls, text messages etc (I would always have to reset the phone to correct the problem).

Recently I have bought the Prestigio 5000 Duo.

The Viewsonic V350.

Also the ZTE V889S

Bottom line was the branded name phones were much better quality, but still they all seemed to suffer conflict between sim slot 1&2. I would actually miss calls and not receive any text messages because both sims would just hang, I would have to turn phone off and then on again or reset the phone.

We tried all networks from Orange to Tesco to Ovivo to O2, we would always have a hanging sim in either slot 1 or 2, this has happened on every dual sim phone I have owned, CPW once said its the android OS, a conflict between sims.

The other issue is extremely poor battery performance in dual sim phones as one battery has got to power two sim cards active at same time always searching (if only one sim slot used then make sure you have the other sim slot turned off).

The other issue is most dual sim phones have one sim slot 3G and the other slot 2G, most UK networks have reduced their 2G service as its becoming outdated, this is where some of the trouble begins.

I'm still on the look-out for that faultless dual sim phone, not found it yet. the Samsung Duo models seem to be the way to go though, maybe a 4" or 5" model................. mmmmmmmm!

I was just pointing out that the poster was talking rubbish when he said shops in the UK selling dual sim phones were doing it illegally or did I not make that clear enough for you? On your point you still would have to buy 2 phones instead of one which would cost more hence the providers still benefit.I see the person who was talking about it being illegal has not come back with any evidence that it's illegal...........And he won't because it's not.

I tested the Huawei Ascend G330d earlier in the year and its a great budget dual sim android phone, I had my main simcard set up for phone calls/texts and the second simcard which had a years free internet on it set up for my data connections and it worked perfectly - my wife still has it and loves it.

Does your wife suffer any of the problems I mention above when using the Huawei G330D dual sim phone. Do both sim cards work at all times, any loss in connection, do any of the sim cards just hang where a restart is needed ?

Cheers!

All of those are on networks though so they're obviously unlikely to provide a dual-sim phone, but the ASDA model is SIM-free so there's no such conflict of interest.

it is duos . have checked today at asda in cardiff

Are you going to post a link to back-up this statement or do you just like to make things up as you go along?

If these are indeed dual-sim then this deal deserves to go stratospheric:

Ovivo sim + Samba sim for uninterrupted browsing
or
Ovivo sim + another Ovivo sim
(Phone £49, 2xsims £40 = £89 one-off for 300 mins, 500 texts, 1GB data per month forever, PLUS with careful switching reserve one sim for unlimited Ovivo-to-Ovivo calls & texts and retain your full allowance for other networks on the second sim )

= ULTIMATE THRIFT PHONE

I can't comment on the phone offered at Asda but check before you buy. I purchased the phone from Argos 9 weeks ago - see link:

argos.co.uk/sta…htm

The product clearly displays the 'Duos' logo but the actual phone provided was the single SIM version. I took it back and got a full refund despite it being exempt from the 30 day exchange offer. I complained online, in store and I called the Argos customer service centre so am surprised the picture still incorrectly shows the dual SIM version.

It appears UK stockists of the single SIM phone were provided with the stock photo of the dual SIM model.

As an aside the screen is pretty awful, even for a phone of this price. it is blurry and over sensitive. Purchase with caution. Cold.
