£2069pp when you factor in a fish supper each night
As long as you are not bone idle and do a bit of research you can eat great food very reasonably in one of the most beautiful places on earth.
I do every year.

Clearly Venice isn't for everyone, I love the place personally. Been three times in four years and going back again in three weeks.

If you eat and drink in front of the attractions you're going to get rinsed, just like you do in London, Paris or Hong Kong - A little research and you can eat like a local for a few euros.

Most over priced place I've been. I'll never return. Waste of money
Heat though as it's still a deal !

Venice is a dump. The whole place could do with a coat of paint snd it smells when hot. There is no where for the public to sit, the gondalas are a rip off, it eill cost you more than £69 for a ride, as are the rip off cafes and restaurants. The waiters are unfriendly, avoid like the plague!

Just take your own sandwiches
You don't want to eat that foreign muck
As far as I can see the only £69 dates are two in March and you can only buy 1 ticket! No details of times of flights -- although you would probably get that once you've paid.

Good deal if you can fly from London or Bristol
from London Stansted, Gatwick, Luton, Manchester, and Bristol
Any flight from Belfast I could bring my own peaces 🥪
When you actually try book it there isn't anything under 350 for 2 people. Cold
FROM £69pp. Cant see any dates between now and forever that are actually £69 or thereabouts
I like Venice. But there are a couple if 69quiders. They will not exist any more. the rest of the prices are the usual rates. So wish I hadn't wasted my time when I could be fat arsing around.
Plenty of decent little passageways hidden on the outskirts that have proper non-tourist prices and hospitality. I spent £20 for 3 meals in separate places when I visited. Again avoid tourist areas plenty of seating and the locals are very friendly. Once you start seeing those dodgy illigal African migrant bag sellers, get away from the area, also keep a watch out for criminal gangs from Romania which are committing crimes all over Europe right now.
I love Venice, good find OP
Theres a maccy Ds there. Useful for when you need a p*ss.

Was lovely when I went 10 years ago, from things I've heard more recently I won't be in a rush to get back.
RUDE people.

From waiters to taxi drivers etc, they all came across as being extremely rude.

It is quite expensive also but its expected in a popular city.

It's beautiful but sadly I won't be returning due to the rudeness
Currently Venice has no water in sone areas

Maybe it's because where they live is constantly full of tourists? Why not try to be polite and friendly to them and I'm sure they'll show the same back.

I've been to Venice and it's absolutely beautiful and the locals that we met could not have been nicer! Would go back again.

Thanks for the first post, OP!
Everyone told me Rome would be expensive to eat in but it really wasn't. If you look in the right places there are some top restaurants with very reasonable prices.
Thanx for posting Op.it takes courage my friend!! 😁
Maybe the price is very attractive, but may I remind everyone to check the reviews on trustpilot before purchasing a "Voucher"?

My story with Wowcher is: I purchased two vouchers, paid additional fee to pick the dates. Then I redeemed the vouchers in order to kick off the process for the travel agent start to confirm my holiday. I was then told by the travel agent that I can't take my holiday on the specific dates with the price of the vouchers, even though I already paid extra charges. So I contacted Wowcher who told me I can't get a refund as the vouchers have been redeemed. As a result, I had to pay additional 160% of the price I paid to make my holiday happen. With the same price, I could stay at a better hotel, take a flight at a better time, and will have a smoother process; if I book through a travel agent directly.
Just a heads up if you haven't been there before and don't know the lay of the land; the hotels on offer are actually on the mainland rather than "Venice proper" so don't be fooled by photos of the Rialto Bridge on the hotel website! Check it out on Google Streetview for example. About a 45 minute train journey in. Kinda defeating the purpose of visiting in the first place I'd say, if only staying 2 or 3 nights.

For a short trip there save yourself the hassle and stay on the island, and shop around for bargains because they still exist despite common misconception. It's quite surreal there at night with the lack of traffic noise and the ancient buildings. Highly recommended, especially off-peak season.

Looking at the schedule explorer on Google Maps the train takes 10 mins and they run every 4 minutes. goo.gl/AnL2Yn
The Hotel Delfino is a 15 minute walk to the train station. You can get vaporettos to everwhere from the train station in Venice itself.
from the bbc news site (so may be fake news )

The mayor of Venice has voiced outrage over the €1,100 (£970; $1,347) bill that four Japanese tourists say they had to pay for four steaks, a plate of fried fish, water and service.

The four students complained to police after getting the eye-watering bill at a restaurant near St Mark's Square.

Three women with them chose another restaurant - but even they ended up paying €350 for three plates of seafood pasta, Italian media report.

The mayor has vowed to get justice.

"We will thoroughly examine this episode, we'll check to see if the complaint was made properly," Mayor Luigi Brugnaro tweeted.

"If this disgraceful episode is confirmed, we'll do all we can to punish those responsible. We are for justice - always!"

The four Japanese men complained to police on returning to Bologna, where they are students. Their case has been taken up by Marco Gasparinetti, spokesman for a Venice residents' forum called "Gruppo 25 Aprile".

Italian media did not name the restaurant, but said it was owned by a Chinese woman and run by an Egyptian.

According to Mr Gasparinetti, only 1.1% of restaurants in that part of Venice are owned by locals, and the figure is 50% in the historic centre as a whole.

He said Gruppo 25 Aprile would post advice for tourists this week on Facebook to help them avoid such a "mockery". There have been many cases of restaurants overcharging tourists in Venice, he said.

Fair enough. It said a 45 minute journey when I checked earlier. Either way I think it just adds time and money on to what should be a nice, easy break. The location of those hotels in a busy part of bland suburbia is not my idea of picturesque Venice.

Just trying to save someone's disappointment if they're visiting for the first time!

I haven't used Wowcher before so I'm a bit confused - I bought the vouchers and redeemed them but can't figure out how to actually book the flights?

Don't bother going to Florence then, extortionate compared to Venice

What makes you think I wasn't polite?

I've constantly been polite with them by smiling, saying please and always thanking them but in response I received something I would class as being rude.

In comparison I went to Stockholm a month before Venice and I can highly praise the city due to the amazing people there

Same, I made a point of speaking in a loud faux Italian accent and the looks I got!

I contacted crystal travel directly in the end. The only flights they had left for my dates were ridiculous timings (return flight 5am) even though the voucher says they won’t be outside normal hours. I’ve paid an extra £49pp to have later flight times but they added an extra night in the hotel as well, so still not bad
None starter as the hotels are in Mestre anyway!!!
