Cheaper 1st class tickets on some routes @ thetrainline

Found 18th Sep 2015
I was looking for train tickets and have noticed that first class tickets are cheaper than standard tickets on the route I searched for, might be a glitch. Haven't checked any other routes so probably only on some routes...

For example:

07/10/2015 Morpeth > Norwich
09:49 - £62.50 standard, £50.50 1st class

10/10/2015 Norwich > Morpeth
10:57 - £118.50 standard, £65.00 1st class

Just a heads up for anyone booking tickets, take a look at the 1st class prices as they may be cheaper

It is when the advance standard class sells out but the advance first hasn't done so yet.

It has always been that way.

Ah sorry, never realised
Also...don't book using the Trainline. They charge a booking fee.
I really cannot understand why anyone would use trainline. They charge for everything and not sure if it's virgin in drag. Just use one of the train operators, I use trans pennine express, 1% quidco and nectar points for ALL bookings. occasionally I use virgin east coast for london as they give online discount for their advance tickets but they only give nectar points if you use their trains. Big difference is with these two is no credit card charge and no charge for collecting tickets at station. So do doesn't matter where you are in uk you can use these companies. From memory East Midlands trains are similar and also on quidco
