they both use the same Openreach infrastructure. So Sky isn't "better quality"
Might have some of that

you can if you go via a cashback site - cashback is via the cashback site and the MasterCard is via Sky.

Sorry - Missed your post about Sky, I thought we were talking about TalkTalk. Already with Sky so no good to me.

Yeahh x
I was a long-term ADSL Talktalk member and its the only network that I definitely wouldn't return to. This is due to very poor ADSL speed and the subsequent battle I had showing that it was their network (and not my line) that was grinding everything to near complete halt. Hours and hours of my life wasted on the phone to terrible customer service who didn't know / couldn't help or didn't seem interested (in anything other than reading from a script anyway). Never ever again!
I read the terms and conditions from your link and says this offer is only valid for new TalkTalk customers on products specified.

Where did you see that is valid for existing customers?

not quite true, whilst they all use the copper lines from exchange to home apart from virgin, talktalk have not rented any other infrastructure from bt for some time.
Was a couple of years ago they stopped this and moved all non unbundled customers to another company.

Yes, similar experience here.

They do, but my fibre connection with them struggled at 27MB, along with all the other issues such as incorrect billings, delayed setup leaving me without internet for two weeks etc etc

I'm with EE now and reliably get 78MB on the same line. TalkTalk are cheap, they're also shite.
My TT standard seemed to have the exact same possible speed as BT standard.
this quite a good deal considering Anytime landline calls are included. Igot a very good retention deal with origin, £180 for 18 months. No calls included tho
ADSL...? It's like going back a decade...

I'll second that, wouldn't go back if it was free!

Best thing about Talk Talk is their retentions dept roll over and massively undercut everybody else when it comes to renewal. Their speeds are pretty poor though, their wait times for customer service (phone) are bad. They may have improved since 2016 but this is pretty damming, they even 'beat' Ryanair! google.co.uk/amp…mp/

The maximum I can get on ADSL is 4mb. I'm currently on 100mb with Virgin so ADSL would feel like dial up to me.
what nout NOW BB ANYONE GOT IT THE FIBRE?

That is on the assumption of the customer believing what the TT 'customer services staff' (laugh!) say. They lie and lie and lie again. I assume they are on commission, so will say pretty much anything to retain mug customers. Having been (past tense) a customer with TT for a number of years, it's my impression that TT is a 'ghost' company. They have no technical staff. TT only has (UK based) staff in Sales and Rentention (all commission based, hence the barefaced lying). TT 'Customer Services' staff are untrained/dumb outsourced, overseas staff (paid peanuts) using foreign companies, Any customer technical work is outsourced to UK support companies (eg Openreach). I would never be a customer of TT again, even if they paid me. One simply can't believe anything that any of the staff say, whether UK based or overseas. The company is a sham, it should be dissolved.

They use the same copper line from the exchange to your house. Sky and TT buy capacity from your exchange to thier servers from a multitude of companies including BT. Sky well outperforms TT for backbone. 4K on a Unlimited Broadband product a mile from the exchange here.
You can get fibre broadband for £20 from voda. If you value your data you won't use talktalk

Certainly is.

But its talktalk

More reasons to use Sky for backbone network capacity. No point paying cheap if the network is struggling over the term of the contract unless you one of those who will cheap out to the bone. TT claims they will guarantee no price increases over the term of the contract unless they have heavy backers to pay for increasing operating costs or outsourcing some of their services elsewhere to maximise profit margins. This guarantee won't last for years as everything is going up in price & may end at any time for the duration of the campaign. It's not always about been the bottom lowest price, you are signing to a 12m/18m agreement which could go ape at any moment. Sometimes it's worth just paying just a little extra for better service overall. If I didn't use Sky for ADSL, my next option would be PlusNet. I can get cable in my area but I don't need super sonic speeds for my needs, same as I don't need fibre. Never hear any happy TT folks here unless they live right next to road side cabinet. We'll not on the same boat.
Terrible company, wouldn't use TalkTalk even if they paid me. Avoid like the plague.
New customers only. T&C item 8: This offer is only valid for new TalkTalk customers on products specified.
PS) Any Sky customers - I was on the previous Sky £9.50 deal, just renewed £2.50 one off charge and £10 a month for 12 months. Wanted £18.99 or £28.99 for Fibre with £10 off each - I told them I would go to Vodafone Fibre for £20 so if they honoured the £10 off the current £20 Broadband deal for new customers I would stay as I didn’t need Fibre just that the price with Voda Fibre was £1.01 more than Sky Broadband. GRANTED

PPS)The high level complaints team at TT are sociopathic liars by the way, based on actual experience. Stay clear.
DON’T DO IT! Horrific service and even worse customer service when things go wrong! I can’t wait to be out of contract to leave...

I did my own comparisons, I'm not that soft in the head! It was for my mother in law who really isn't a demanding broadband user. She's happy, but then she would be as she always gets me to negotiate with them. I'm with Plusnet, customer service there is not as good as they lead you to believe. Best for me was Sky on all fronts apart from I couldn't get a good retention deal or I would have stayed put. Will probably go back to Sky eventually, sadly Virgin fibre unavailable in my area.

Do you mind sharing the link for the £10 off current £20 Broadband deal for new customers? I need to find a good deal as my contract expires 20 March.
After years of no trouble with TalkTalk I entered into a 2 year contract - and for the past year I've been trying to sort out a line problem. Every time it rains heavily the speed drops to almost nil, sometimes unusable as it drops out over and over again. They say no problems at their end - BT Openreach say they can't find a fault on the line, even though there is continual noise on the line after rain. You just go round in circles - they bang on about master socket, filters, antivirus software - anything but actually solve the problem. It's as if nobody really wants to find the fault - one engineer told me there was a fault somewhere, but he couldn't say where from his tests - only recommendation was to pay for a new phone number, which hopefully would mean signal came on a different piece of wire - and may solve it!

Log a full complaint - of everything -against BT Openreach not finding the fault with BT Chief Exec Office - BT own the wires and Openreach run it on BT behalf.
