Good find! Not for me, but doubtless good for those returning students without a laptop. Prices are falling away to nothing...

Edit: Add £64 to upgrade to 2GB RAM - for once, it's cheaper to do this with Dell.

Cheap n cheerful, but worth spending a wee bit extra for a better one.

Surely Vista will run like an asthmatic sloth on a machine of this spec?

Yup. much better to spend the extra £30 for the other deal mike t posted.

Evidence that cheapest is not always best when it comes to computers...

Nice find, ideal for those that just need the basics.;-)

Yup it will.

Well worth the extra £30 for Mike Ts other post.

Funny how its being voted HOT by a lot of people - i posted the same machine with a 19inch TFT for just £83 more last week (bearing in mind you cant buy a Dell 19 inch TFT for anywhere near that price) and it was voted FREEZING.

order it with xp and it will be fine. voted hot.

I guess you're right, with upgraded RAM especially.

For the price of a RAM upgrade - £30 - you get twice the RAM, a dual core processor and a bigger HDD with one of mikes other deals

but as a standalone with XP it will be fine.

Personally, I think this steps into the realm of cheap and not so cheerful. However, its only thanks to Mike's hard work to find the much better deal for only £30 more that allows me to say that, so thanks Mike!

If it runs at all?

512mb memory with the onboard graphics leeching almost all of that to cope with the eye-candy demands of Vista will make this machine almost certainly unfit for purpose.

I'm a big Dell fan but I'm disappointed with them here; they must know this system is a non-runner?

Spend the £17 upgrading to 1gb, then buy a second lot for £30.

If you're buying the monitor, its probably also worth spending the extra £23 for a widescreen 19" monitor over the default.
