Was looking for a Dualit toaster and saw this. Only available in pink but for £35 delivered!

The 2 slot Lite toaster combines Dualit's classic toaster styling with a contemporary and practical gloss finish that stays cool to the touch. Patented Perfect Toast Technology ensures the Lite Toaster produces consistently golden brown toast. The Peek & Pop ® function allows you to check the bread while toasting without cancelling the toasting cycle giving greater browning control. It incorporates a bagel and defrost function, extra-wide 36mm slots and automatic pop-up.

Am I the only one who’d much rather have a cheap toaster for £5?

Good toasters - shame it's pink!

If you buy this one (Lite range) you're simply buying for the name, not for the famous Dualit quality. If you doubt what I'm saying, pop into a shop and compare this with a Vario / Classic range toaster.

Having said that, this is a good price for this model (although not my colour :))

I was in Newcastle yesterday and saw the real McCoy Dualit ones which were £145 and up to£175, a tad on the dear side for a Toaster.

Fifty percent off though is a good deal.

Dualit quality? We have one at work, forever being sent for repair due to blown elements.

In fact, being repairable is the only reason many places use them, not because of quality.

Guess a respray will sort the pink out.

I just bought a delonghi one from the Black Friday sale which is only toasting one side,a shame

Dualit toasters last for years. My father bought one 30 years ago and still works. I bought mine 15 years ago (because of my dads one) and mine still works. If these are the same quality as the regular Dualit toasters, then I highly recommend it.

So you use a home machine for commercial use, and blame Dualit? You need the big commercial machines.

same here, mines coming up to 20 years old and toasts as well today as the day I bought it...

its chrome and gets a polish once a year and looks like new !

Other than the colour, knob, buttons and general design, I like it.

Good price - thanks OP

Except this is just a Dualit licensed product, so not the quality item you have. Too many people being sucked in to so called 'cheap deals' for something that simply has the name on it. I would rather invest in the real thing if I needed a new toaster.

I bought a Russell Hobbs Toastec for about £25 quid years ago when money was a bit tight. Still going strong after 18 years of use.

Sounds like it's faulty to me. Had mine for years with no issues at all.

That's not a problem, just turn the bread around when the first side is done

I've bought and been pleased with both.

When doing up our kitchen we treated ourselves to a proper Dualit toaster and I have to say that there aren't many products that I've bought that exude quality through and through like it does.
Usually with so-called top-end items there's something where that you think "why on earth did they make that bit so flimsy" or "they've tried to save cost there". There's none of that with the proper Dualit toaster.
It's very likely that cost of ownership compared with cheap ones is higher, but it just feels nice to use and creates perfectly even toast every time.

I've also had cheap toasters for various reasons (camping, when renting for working away from home etc.) and been pleased with those too. I may need to turn the bread over to make sure I have full coverage and that feel flimsy and cheap, but for the money they are great.

To use a motoring analogy, the Lite version listed here is like buying a VW golf in order to say / believe they have a car made by Bentley.

Your not using yours in a commercial environment like they are, and judging by his username he works somewhere a toaster would get lots of use from shift workers.

Or you could be making wrong assumptions based on limited information. His / her workplace may only have a few people and the toaster may only be used a couple of time a week.

I'm guessing you also assume I'm a male from Suffolk.
