Have you checked current prices? Due to this stupid mining craze prices are sky high. This is for those who dont want to wait for prices to maybe at some point decrease

Maybe at some point?

They will go down once the crypto bubble properly pops.

My EVGA 1060 6GB was £229 about 6 weeks ago. Was an Amazon Hot deal on here - selling for about £370 at the moment, mental.
arghhhhhhhhhh limit of 1?!

I felt slightly ripped off on a 1080ti for £719 back in October. Got 2 free games with it at the time which sweetened the deal slightly. Looking back, I feel less bad now seeing how it's gone totally nuts with the graphics card market.
Had noticed generally RAM and GPU prices have very slightly dropped in the last week. Hopefully it will continue as I really want to build a new gaming pc.

I got a 1050ti for £100 or so less than 2 months ago, and that seems a very good deal now!
luckily only paid 400 for my 1080 in November

Q'ue?
can't wait for this bitcoin crap to fold.... sure, plenty getting rich by taking your sterling and selling you pretend money
Put off upgrading any of my pc at the moment , currently running a GTX 780, 8gb RAM & i5 4690K to cope with stepping up to 1440p but not at the current prices , probably gonna wait to see what happens when Nvidia release something new, whenever that may be

That's not happening any more. Don't expect your hands on new cards until q4.
I feel lucky as stocked 20 1080tis in sep before mining boom and can now sell them 800 on ebay whwre people cut throat for em at that price

Yep why would they release anything, same 2 year old cards selling for 50% more, keep the old stock rolling out & delay anything new, why not they have no competition:(

Mining isn't a craze, unfortunately it's required for some blockchains to confirm transactions, so there will always be mining to some extent, there are crypto currencies/tokens that don't require mining. Hopefully the future involves those or the algorithms get a lot more efficient, well there are already low energy mining algorithms. Anyway I can't see mining disappearing for a long while yet.

The crypto bubble wont burst, it's the mining craze that will burst.

Anyways I don't think there is even a big mining craze - all made up nonsense to put up component price. Look at the fire at 1 hard drive factory putting up prices globally for every manufacturer or the "shortage" of memory chips for no apparent reason to double ram pricing.
CPU price doubling will be next, they're already prepping it up using Spectre & Meltdown as an excuse.

try going to reddit.com/r/g…ing.

when you see people buying 200 of these cards, renting commercial space, redoing house wiring - it's not a "made up nonsense." Most people who say that don't understand how it works and/or aren't profiting from it.
Bought the Asus Rog Strix OC 1080Ti in July last year for £666. Could sell for a few hundred more than that several months later.
Honestly the price is not bad... heat added
Had to smuggle 1080s from across the world for my SO a few weeks ago lol
The price is just getting more and more ridiculous

Don't expect the performance improvement to go anywhere though. With the lack of competition from AMD, Nvidia will pull an Intel and drip-feed the market with products that offer tiny increase in performance over previous gen for the mainstream, and drop another Titan at around 1K in price for gamers that are desperate enough for half decent performance upgrade.

The way they are going, we will probably see the 70/80 card to go from 256-bit->192-bit at £400~£600, and 60 card from 192-bit->128bit at £200~£300, with 5-10% increase in performance comparing to previous gen and bang on "look, it's more power-efficient and consuming WHOPPING 30W less than the previous gen!" to further increase their profit margin
Mining is growing less popular from a developer POV and premining with wide distribution is growing a bit more popular. But there will likely be profitable s**tcoins even if premined does take off, and sadly, as long as some form GPU mining exists, card manufacturers and resellers will try to bank on it.

If it's so great why are the selling it for pounds or dollars surely they accept zoids for it??

Yeah, I wouldn't expect any massive jumps. Just the typical jump. Nvidia has their process and I don't see them diverging from it due to mining.

I wouldn't be so sure on that. 2 years seems to be Nvidia's cycle. 2 years since the 1070/1080 reveal. Word is Nvidia is longer making the 102s and 104s so they have to have something lined up about to hit the market. I think Q3 is more likely. Who knows though.
Some mining rigs for sale on Gumtree.
Maybe a sign?
I uploaded a 1080 Reference card a few weeks back, Fucking freeZING, but here we have a poor aftermarket card for 30 quid more, what a Steal

That 30W saving would be £240 less in electricity for a 6 card mining rig. So it would appeal to some.

Also I’d expect more performance. The general theme is a 1070 becomes an 1160. So for a set price point that is quite a jump.

It will burst, it's a global fad, countries are starting to come down hard on it and it will only get worse.

I have to agree with your second point though.

Seller on Ebay used to have brand new Dell OEM cards all the time for £399.99. PNY and MSI made unbranded models.

Mine is unbranded MSI Aero 1080. Blower style but perfect for my ITX build.
