This is great news.

I had a wee Daewoo Matiz for years, great wee car. This looks as if it would be as good!

The engine is slow and the mpg is poor! Must be a very inefficient engine... Get the Suzuki Alto for a similar price - 74 mpg

Spelling correction on the title please.

Captain Slow's fav. Look out for reversing lorry when you drive it.

You have to spend a minimum of £7,995.00 to get one with Air Conditioning.

Review here:- (Albeit this was for the diesel version which is £9K

"For Dacia’s advertised £5,995, you get a Sandero so basic that it might be a relief not to find it in a flat-pack with an Ikea key and instructions on how to screw it together. You get a 1.2-litre petrol engine with a weedy 74bhp. You get 15in steel wheels and no radio at all. You do get door handles and bumpers but they’re not colour coded to the body and neither are the wing mirrors. If you want the electric windows, cruise control and air-conditioning that came with my test car, you will need to start shaking the piggy-bank.

Even in that basic form, the Sandero is still a startling deal, especially as a first car for a teenager. But not, perhaps, quite so appealing as the hype might make it seem. "

I saw the Stepway range model the other day. Not a bad looking car!

if you cant afford this much for a car, id either go for an older batter make or contract hire a new car

Not to bring the deal down but this car is so slow, its actually dangerous! Plus my BMW gets better MPG than that!
If you want a small, practical car for a cheap price, deep a tiny bit deeper and get a Diesel Fiesta or (~sigh~) a Corsa, lots of spares at the scrappy.

Jesus....is there anything in Scotland they won't batter??

Great price for a new car and I have actually considered getting one to replace my aging Smart, but not exactly a hot deal in my eyes as £5995 is the RRP and has been since the car launched in the UK

.....agreed....if you happen to be 19, and are budgeting to pay more your insurance than the car itself......Each to their own though, coming into winter now though, I wouldn't care if it looked like a sardine-tin, as long as it has 4 wheel drive !

Why would you want one with air con?

Why would you want one with air con?

Yeah, its bloody freezing and this car will only make it to April before it disintegrates X)

Why anybody would buy this over a second hand VW Fox or similar is beyond me.

Dacia Sandero, didn't spurs try to sign him in the summer?

Well I don't want one at all, but I'd never buy a car without ac.

I leave it on every day of the year, keeps the screen from misting and I like being cold.

Fourteen and a half seconds to get to just over 60 mph. A push bike can do that. Dont buy one.
Inevitably it will be me stuck behind you at a roundabout and travelling time is already to long with the councils ,slow down traffic measures,. In fact the council should give these away for free

You get a decent 0-60 if you push it off a cliff.

Mid-level cars are fine but £7.4k+. This £5,995 base mode is VERY basic.

Nah, my sis has the dacia sandero laureate and she loves it, her ins is reasonable and it's good on fuel, what more can a 23 yr old want

A Brazilian-built Fox is an equally nonentity of a car.

James mays favourite car!!!!!

Why has this been posted. A car at list price is all I can see. Cold.

The starting price is low but if you add all the extras like decent engine, aircon to demist the windows etc. to bring it up to modern standards you end up paying almost the same as for a more established brand

open a window and save 2 grand hukd of the year,

I'd rather buy a good used car for £5,000, then take it to a garage and use the money left towards any servicing it needs for peace of mind.

Even for 6k, this is such a basic looking car and within months it will be dirty and look like it's worth £2,000.

Trust me, buy used from a car enthusiast that looks after his vehicle.

No radio

No radio

Yup and fitting a radio is not simply a matter of plug and play: it's quite a big job, and they don't give you any speakers either!

+1
from an auction you can buy a grade 2 VW or BMW with less than 60k on the clock for less than this.

Thats funny and for the record the Focus RS Mk2 has gone replaced by a fuel frugal Vauxhall VXR8 with a 6.2 litre engine. Happy days.

Let's be sensible: Dacia buyers aren't going to go to BCA and put their hand up for some battered Golf TDI with 150k miles on the clock.

Better to buy something reliable and similarly priced. Something like a Fiesta 1.25

Why would you want one with air con?

I would get one with air con due to the fact the build quality would be quite bad so the gaps left in the bodywork would allow damp into the vehicle. The Air conditioning would help with this in the winter due to it being for that purpose.

The fuel economy and emissions are terrible for such a small engine.

Yes you may save money on the initial purchase but that saving will soon be eaten up with all the fueling you'll be doing

Far better to buy something only 2-3 years old with similar size engine but which has 20-30 more MPG and £0-35 Road tax band
