It looks to me like you're likely to get £150 for trading in a working laptop or tablet with all the cables etc - says max £225 but I'd say that would be unlikely. Seems like quite a lot of hassle and risk so not for me.

That said, net price is still pretty good though I don't think there'll be too many takers for non-HD screen and only 4GB/i3/128SSD.

look again, it's £200 cashback - see post 3

Yeah you posted that while I was writing - I didn't get that list when I went through from the Laptopsdirect site for some reason (the page didn't load the product details). I was looking at an old (Oct!) set of figures that was on the HP "Tradeup" page [https://tradeuptohp.com/gb/en/pages/tradein/home]

Sort of backs up my point that it's a bit complicated and there's hassle and risk; but still not a bad deal if you want to go down that route (and have a qualifying device to trade in).

the hassle is very minor - perhaps 5 mins to fill in the form & 15 mins to package your old device & take it to the Post Office - HP give you a pre-paid label

having done it myself, I was mildly apprehensive the first time as well but was easy peasy & HP customer service were excellent, nobody is trying to catch you out

my understanding is it's HP's selling logic to do this & help move old stock already sitting with retailers with a £200 discount / cashback because then the retailers will re-stock with newert models

Very hot. The HP tradeup/cashback is very reliable and assuming you have something to tradein, excellent deal considering the price of laptops are shooting up. Ok the screen is not FHD but the CPU is good and SSD is good, albeit a bit small. If you need the space I'd replace the DVD caddy with a HDD caddy and put a HDD drive in there (even better if you have a spare one.)
EDIT: one issue - should be ok - is you need the invoice to have a date before or on the 28th; as its next day delivery and in stock - confirm with a webchat possibly - should be ok.
EDIT2: Windows7Pro will be loved by the Windows10 haters. Strange it doesn't have Windows10 with downgrade rights to 7?

A couple of the i5s come out reasonably cheap as well, see the W4P30ET laptopsdirect.co.uk/hew…asp £322

Intel Core i5 6200U - 2.3 GHz Processor - CPU Benchmark 3946

128GB SSD
Windows 7 Pro Operating System ---> W10
DVD-RW Optical Drive

Has to be a fully working laptop less than 7 years old - worth checking what year yours was released...

Be warned, I had big trouble with HP cashback about 6 months ago (got some money in the end), never again for me. Not voting.

Old models they are trying to get rid of. Not many people buying 1366 * 768 screens

Yep not too sure about that, my 2 came with Windows 10 & W7 as an option - looking at other websites, I think that's what you'll get here, too, eg:

Operating System
Windows 7 Professional 64 (available through downgrade rights from Windows 10 Pro 64) technoworld.com/hp-…pro

Phoned up the business team at LD 01484 319818 & it is indeed W10 Pro with downgrade rights to W7 Pro

unless you explain what the issue was, the assumption has to be that it was user error - the HP T&Cs are clear enough & easy to follow

you're a business user if you're a sole trader - you're a sole trader if you think you're a sole trader - no proof required - anyboy, employee or not - can also be a sole trader if they decide to be one

I see. I didn't know if you'd have to provide proof i.e VAT documentation etc. I have a little 11 inch netbook that looks like it meets the criteria. Would be happy to pick up one of these around the £230 mark

go for it - don't judge the deal by the ice - I posted a couple of deals like this last year and once people got it, the deals were well-liked & (on the threads at least) nobody said they failed to get the cashback from HP

not sure how else you are going to get such a good spec business PC for this sort of price, this is currently the cheapest new i3 laptop in 2017 posted on HUKD

there are quite a few HUKD people who have profited from similar HP cashback deals, they will come out of the woodwork if you wanted any reassurance

Awful reliability. Bought 5 for work, all had problems needing new screens or power supplies, cash back no compensation for lack of productivity. If you roll the dice then at least extend the warranty.
