Site is back up... nice and quick now...ipostparcels.com/
I use Parcelsplease, they use UPS next day delivery and obtain signature on delivery without paying extra for it, plus they are on Quidco so cashback each time you use them. Saying that they are only better on heavier items.

I have used them, and like UPS but they still cost more even adding a signature required :-( If like me you are shipping eBay items then you only need a signature over £150 in value...

This works out much cheaper for 5KG items, slightly cheaper for 10KG items and way cheaper if you ship multiple items on the same day.

wow they are cheap. but not a big fan with UK Mail as they lost a couple of my parcels in the past...
still cheap compare to City Link.

Just got a quote from APC to post a boxed wii fit board, parcel weight 4.8kg.

APC qouted me £15+ VAT - what a joke!!!

As for the op's ipostparcels, the max of any single dimension is 35cm for upto 5kg parcels.

Quotes £4.79 but when details are filled in charges £8.70. BEWARE!
If your parcel is worth more than £50, expect £3-£5 extra.
Looks to me like one of those starting cheap but you end up with paying more then elsewhere.
Post Office is cheaper for me and insured up to £500.

OP asks for any other suggestions on cheap couriers then totally dismisses them.:|
The price will vary from courier to courier depending on size, weight and value of item. The best thing to do as always is shop around. Are these still competative when you need to insure for much more than the standard £50?

I have yet to see any links for cheaper next day couriers @5KG and 10KG. Feel free to provide some....

If you read above, then you will note that there is one post for APC that is clearly garbage as demonstrated by someone who requested a quote, and another for a more expensive service at the weight I asked for a better price on....

Thanks for stating the obvious on how couriers price shipments. This is the best price I have found for 5KG and 10KG Next Day service after extensive 'shopping around'. Insurance prices have been added above.

Ok. This is stating the obvious for you, SHOP AROUND FOR CHEAPEST QUOTE FOR YOUR NEEDS!
How long is the 10% code valid for?

The point is you WONT GET CHEAPER THAN THIS for the parameters stated @ 5KG and 10KG. That's why it is posted as a deal. If you can find cheaper then post it...

Additional charges for insurance are perfectly normal for couriers.

5KG via Royal Mail Special Delivery is £22.70. The equivalent service insured for £500 and signed for via UKMAIL is £12.01.

Yes if you need very light items with high values, it might be cheaper via the Post Office, but then you have to take it there also.

I don't have anything to send at the moment. When I do a get as many quotes as possible, avoiding HDN and YODEL. When I do I will try these if they work out cheaper then thanks. Don't know if the 10% will still be valid then. Thanks for posting anyway.

Collect + is not a Next Day service, it is a 5 days service!. It is also not Door to Door.

It uses Yodel who are awful anyway, but plus an extra layer of risk and hastle at each end...

Even without the 10% I think this is still the cheapest @ 5KG and 10KG for next day / basic insurance cover. Definately is if you ship more than 1 parcel....

Unknown.
A good delivery company if you want to totally pi** your buyers off.
In my experience they lie about making deliverys. They claim to have to have tried to deliver left no card. When you ring to find where your order is, they tell you, you will have to collect it from the depot as they have made several attempts but no one was in. The funny thing is I have CCTV which proves no deliverys were ever attempted. This has happend in Manchester on 3 separate occasions. You have been warned!!

Such issues occasionally happen with all delivery companies. UKMAIL are pretty good in my experience. Certainly not like Yodel for instance.

Sounds like you might have one bad driver in Manchester.

Collect+ are now my courier of choice, very cheap & reliable
this deal is not very good as the dimensions are too restrictive!
OP why do you keep banging on about weight when size is also important.
I hate this delivery service ,Ive had a few parcels delivered by them ,they make out they have attempted delivery when they haven't and trying to get hold of them to find out where your parcel is is a total nightmare it has taken me over an hour sometimes just to get someone to answer the phone

Obviously it is not going to suit everyone, but as far as I can see after checking many couriers, this is the best deal for 5KG and 10KG within the restrictions of the service. And by miles if you ship more than 1 parcel or can drop them off.

On the rare occassion the dimension limits are a problem, I can drop back to another courier if it makes sense.

Good luck with a 5 day service and then telling people to collect from a shop if you are selling on eBay!

For personal stuff, great, but not really an option for anyone trading.

really cheap nice 1
I used ipostparcels.com last month for a 5kg parcel and it was collected and delivered next day no problems, good service at a cheap price... it seems they have lowered their prices again since then. I've used parcel monkey but their prices have rocketed!

Definitely worth trying ipostparcels which seems to be the new parcel delivery firm on the block.
thanks for this i will try on monday, just sold somethong on ebay went to parcelmonkey expecting to pay £7, well i got a bit of a shock with their new prices!

plus local ukmail depot is nearby
Does anyone know if it is any cheaper when posting more then 1 item?
Yes they do offer bulk discounts, so the second item works out cheaper, i have just started to use them myself. I send around 40 parcels a month and got used to paying £5.40 with Parcel Monkey on their mailing bag rate, not blaming them for the increase. It is City Link who have forced all the resellers to pay a premium on each order.
Just used this deal for this sale HERE

As promised, next day delivery for 5kg with £250 insurance came to £10.94. And they give a two hour window on delivery time
Can you get the discounted rate (Second parcel onwards..) if you drop off too?
Also can you use Mailing Bags?
Good find
Use code 'MOTHER' and get 20% off
