They look like cherries but like all those "Spanish specials" that are designed to grow in set conditions and yelds they taste like water.

The strawberry's are large and flavourless too.

Its 1KG of what science can grow, not what your tastebuds expect.

What part are you unsure about? They put them in poly tunnels and grow them, the variety usually used is bland but easy to grow.

Cherry farming, esp. the varieties that are high in flavour is a fickle business.
they're not as good as the m&s ones, but at half the price they'll do nicely for now

they definitely did not taste like water..I quite liked them but everybody needs to make an opinion after tasting them
but I agree that some imported fruit and veg does not taste good
We bought some today -taste good to me.
The alternative ( loose cherries) were £7.60 and nearly 1/2 the size
Had some on my breakfast today and agree taste good!!
I was about to post this deal, bought some yesterday and they are as least as tasty as the ones I paid 5 times as much for from the coop.

A taste is subjective but to be honest those aren't that bad. They aren't best tasting ones but I don't think there are a huge difference in taste between supermarket cherries...

omg i wish I had a Tesco!! the strawberries, cherries and j20 are all on offer at tesco
Bought some tonight, they're nice and sweet and juicy. As good as you'll buy from a supermarket in this country, anyway!
Guys, look up. There are cherry trees everywhere. They're not quite ripe yet but soon they'l be a bonanza. You could get kilos and kilos just off the bottom of one tree. All that for 30 minutes effort.

I did as you said but when I looked up all I could see was some Artex and a cobweb.
Got these when they ran the offer last year, a lot were squishy tbh. But they weren't bad taste wise.

They are not polytunnels they are large plastic covered greenhouses and as far as I know only one farmer uses this method for early variety, and a couple of years ago Tesco had so they thought the exclusive rights to this early variety but the crafty farmer only gave exclusivity to one of his farms not his other in a different part of Spain that Harrods purchased from. Early cherries have to be eaten quickly because they do not last as long as normally grown cherries and this year crops are late due to the extended Spanish rainy season that also ruined their lettuce crops. I bought some this week at 2.50 euro a Kg.
They are £5.99 a kg in Lidl
i saw in Colchester, they had loads there yesterday.. 1Kg strawberry also was there for £3. not much was left yesterday though..

M&S ones are much tastier and worth paying the extra - who knows what chemicals are in these ones!!! ;-)

The don't put chemicals 'in' them, they are sprayed on the outside. WASH them before eating. Simples.
Incidentally, as we have some M&S ones they come from Spain too!
Just been fruit picking at local farm - strawberries. What the hell has happened to old fashioned strawberries. Varieties today are all like the Spanish, Egyptian etc varieties. Either massive! (5 to a punnet!) or those weird lots of leaves ones that mean only 3/4 of the strawberry ripens, the rest is whitish green. Odd. Bet it's all down to money and cost saving, always is.
Plus while picking, used to be free to go in and pay for what you picked. Oh no, not any more, 2 quid 'each' and then pay for what you've picked. Why? Greedy **** filling their guts with them while they pick. Hope they're sick.
Oh, and HOT for this. Good price for a kilo, love cherries. But will our Tesco Express have any? I wouldn't bank on it. Still, can't complain it's the only supermarket we don't have here, just the express with Esso fuel station with petrol at the highest price in the area so don't go there often.

Isn't a plastic covered greenhouse just a polytunnel?

British strawberries in Tesco now for £2.00 for 400g - when they get down to £1.20 for 400g I'll be making my strawberry jam. You can't beat the flavour of British strawberries!

In the true sense no they are not. A green house is a large structure for cultivating fruit veg and flowers that you can a
walk into, and is permanent, whereas a poly tunnel is a small covering for plants etc. grown in rows, such as lettuce, beetroot, cabbage and artichokes plus others to speed up early growth and can be removed and usually discarded, ( at least in Spain ) after they have done their job. I live in a farming area of Spain, so I see this all the time
