Cherry blue switches as far as I can tell.
Not knocking the deal, but aren't they usually around this price?

Fair enough

I just remember that when I was looking for a keyboard with mechanical keys the Cherry ones seemed to be around this price. That along with the minimalist look of them appealed, but the lack of any media functions put me off.
Damn that's one ugly looking keyboard.
Fantastic typing keyboard, picked one up a few years ago and have been using it ever since. Love the blue clicky switches.
Looks like a prop from the film Aliens
You don't know you love it until you try it.
but how will we use a keyboard without multi coloured backlights? oO oO oO

It's a mechanical. It's one of cherry's own as well so... better than some for sure. For the price, it's a decent deal.

It's a great keyboard and it's full size.
Been using one for a while and got it for a bit less than this (Well free through work)

Even without the silly RGB I have to admit to being a fan of the mechanicals with the "keys mounted on a metal plate" look (like the corsair or the announced Asus and probably a few more) rather than a typical keyboard look with plastic surround etc. Definitely looks/feels more "premium". Sadly, only really available with silly RGB lighting etc.
Got this one, but don't quite like it.
- Plastic and stamping feels cheap and not precise.
- All normal keyboards have tiny marks on f and j keys, but this one have these two keys shaped differently - narrower and deeper walley.
Annoys me like hell - looks and feels like two keys are misshaped.
I ordered one of these, but it arrived damaged (top and bottom parts of the case had separated) and on top of that it just didn't inspire a sense of 'premium', which is kinda what I expect for a Cherry keyboard. I returned it and bought a QPAD MK-80, which I am typing on now, and really like.

This is a good price for this Cherry keyboard, but it wouldn't be my personal choice. Your mileage may vary.
" it just didn't inspire a sense of 'premium'"
Agree with you 100%
Mechanical keyboard deals, always welcome!
I own a red switch (around 85.00) in the office and a black switch(around 50.00) at home. Having used it for four years now, for both text typing and gaming, I absolutely love it.

This is the kind of product that you won't regret buying. But one big disadvantage is that it will make switching to other keyboard painful.

And noisy of course. (The blue switch is the noisiest)

Is this one not … Is this one not better?http://www.ebuyer.com/697251-element-gaming-beryllium-mechanical-red-switch-gaming-keyboard-elementsk52

Completely different switches. Red are better for gaming, these are better for typing.
When I used to play Soldier of Fortune 2 multiplayer in 2003-2005, and the COD 4 MW in 2007, I had a mechanical keyboard and I changed it for a 'Logitech crap keys' keyboard, pretty sure that was the actual real name of the keyboard, I got it as the mechanical keyboard was too noisy, I could waste most people onlne in that game using a crap keyboard and a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer. All this gaming peripheral stuff is largely nonsense, if you have the skills as long as the peripherals are reasonable you will only gain a marginal improvement. It makes lots of money for gaming peripheral manufacturers though.

Online gaming those were the days I was called SpankNastier in S.O.F.2, I'd be hopeless at gaming now as I'm 45 and have the reflexes of a drunk sloth.

It's not really about improving your performance, it's just more enjoyable to use to use a better built keyboard with quality switches, and these switches will last far longer than membrane switches. Do you buy better quality shoes to walk faster? No, they're just nicer to wear and often last longer.

My Logitech banana scrotum keys keyboard I still use, it has membrane keys and is from circa 2001, still working after 15 years and feels better to use than my Mac keyboard.

Mac keyboards feel horrible to be fair.

Mechanical keyboards just feel better; You don;t have to use one, but many people prefer them.

I've got this and I've got the keyboards from this Argos misprice - hotukdeals.com/dea…570

They're both great but the CM one just feels too small.

Nothing wrong with mechanical keyboards they've existed for 50+ years or longer. I was making a general point that gaming peripherals are largely about making money rather than actually giving a significant advantage in game for most people. Of course you can go the other way and use some awful really cheap no brand chinese peripherals in which you'll benefit upgrading.

We live in a society that finds me spending £130 on a keyboard I've been using for several hours every day for the last 4 years "stupid" while 18-yr old blowing £130 on booze and kebabs every weekend is considered "good fun".

Go figure.

You forgot hookers as well, you could have also used the word blowing to good effect too. Kebab eating alcoholic hookers those weren't the days fortunately. Gone off on a tangent here haven't I.

£130 on a hooker? Haha, what a loser, they're only £30 by the docks.

F&*king by the dock of the bay.
Good keyboard. I mean if it's too dark for you, you could always change out the key caps and personalised. Blue switches are good but they can be quite loud and some people will get sick of it over time.

I have blue switches at the office and brown switches at home. Brown switches are a good in-between blue and red I find.

Thanks for this! Just looked back at the pictures and you can clearly see the f and j keys ARE DIFFERENT! What a ridiculous way to design a keyboard

Good spot. No it's QWERTY according to the model number/ reviews. They just have the wrong pictures up.
Have a few mechanical keyboards, must resist buying one of these as well
