Chestnuts 400g for £1.50 from Morrisons

Chestnuts have been fairly expensive this year with Tescos stealthily shrinking their packs to 350g and still charging £2.50. Morrisons seem to be the cheapest for them at the moment by a fair margin.

Shame I don't have a Morrisons here. Love me chestnuts!

Theyre £2.50 even in Lidl (from memory)..so this is a great price.

Nothing wrong with my lovely chestnuts either but no roasting, destined for the big bird ;-)

Mmm not had roasted chestnuts for a while.

Was looking at doing chestnuts with the Brussels but the recipe asks for vacuum packed cooked chestnuts. How do you cook these chestnuts?

Glad to see so many Chestnut lovers but does anyone have any tips on roasting them? I always seem to make them rawer than they should be, so end up with hard chestnut flesh rather than that sweet soft stuff I love.

They are just convenience - got them last year and apart from being perhaps a little bit more squashy, they taste and handle pretty much like the real thing plus you save a few hours of your life for not much money

Not difficult, just roast @ 200C (reduce if fan oven) with the corners nipped off and check every now & then to make sure you don't over roast. 25 mins?

Thank you! I think I've been doing mine for like 10-15 minutes at a lower temperature for fear of exploding my oven lol.
