IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY

Children of Morta is an action RPG with a rogue-lite approach to character development, where you don’t play a single character, but a whole, extraordinary family of heroes. Hack and slash through hordes of enemies in procedurally generated dungeons, caves, and lands and lead the family of Bergsons, with all their flaws and virtues, against the forthcoming Corruption.

FEATURES GAMEPLAY

Gameplaywise, it's a unique mix of action-adventure RPG, rogue-lite, and hack 'n' slash. By leveling up, you develop not only individual characters but also the entire family. There is no permadeath, and you can change family members between the dungeon runs.

LOCAL CO-OP

Play as two Bergsons together against the Corruption! Additional controller required (online co-op will be added in the future).

STORY

The story takes place in a distant land but copes with themes and emotions common to all of us: love and hope, longing and uncertainty, loss... and the sacrifice we are willing to make to save the ones we care for the most. Ultimately, it's about a family of heroes standing against the encroaching darkness.

DUNGEON CRAWLING

All the dungeons in the game are procedurally generated, which means their layout is different with each adventure. There can be from two to four levels of each dungeon with a unique boss fight at the end. You can always get back to the previous dungeons to get extra XP or finish all the side quests.

CHARACTERS & SKILLS

Ranged attacks, magic spells, blocks, stuns, evasion, and passive skills – it’s all there for you to discover, unlock, and upgrade. You can choose from six different family members, each one having unique skill sets. The father, John, a protective warrior with a sword and shield. The eldest daughter, Linda, a precise archer. Kevin, a quiet fighter equipped with deadly daggers. Lucy, a lively and bold fire mage. Mark, a mindful martial arts fighter. And Joey, who smashes his enemies with a sledgehammer.

ART STYLE

A combination of hand-painted pixel art and frame-by-frame animations partnered with modern lighting techniques come to life to create the beautifully dangerous world of Children of Morta!

Do games return once they've left game pass?

Do games return once they've left game pass?

The Division has been on there twice. Sometimes they do return.

Children of Morta is great by the way. Got it at launch on PS4 and love it. Its a great roguelike with a genuinely interesting story.

For what it's worth, you can get it for about £4 at CEX! I think you can get Div 2 for about £8 new now

Could you leave it installed and buy a cheap disc version ? Or would it need to install disc version ?

Yep, that's worked for me in the past! If it goes, it prompts you to put the media in, as it would if you try and run a game without the disc after you've installed it off one. If it all goes wrong (it shouldn't!), you can reinstall and it'll pull your saves automatically from the cloud.
Need to get round to playing Resident Evil 4!

Don't, the port on Xbox is terrible - the controls just don't work organically constantly battling with the controls ruined replaying the game for me. I'll be digging out the Wii version as that was the best port of the game using the Wii pointer to aim and nunchuck to move.

That bad? Will at least give it a try, not played it since completing it on PS2 many moons ago

Have a crack at the first battle in the cottage and let me know. I know the clumsy controls added to the urgency/suspense in the early games but I just don't remember it being so restricted

Its work the other way - installing a disc game, switching to game pass and removing disc.
Found this out when I accidentally bought a game which was on Game Pass

The controls are atrocious.

Except they're not robbing you of anything.

From day one it was known games will come and go, like Netflix, as they will be on a timed agreement with developers. Besides, they're not removing anything new or expensive to purchase.

Removing some older games and replacing with some more older games....that's not where the £60 for the year value is, that's the bonus like still getting 360 games with games for gold

As somebody who's completed RE4 29 times I was excited to replay it for a 30th run, literally did the first bit and found it so sluggish and horrible. Thought it was rose tinted glasses but you're telling me it's the port that makes it feel like that?

We've already had four other games added to the catalogue this month.

Careful now, you might spoil the narrative

Plus, Gold and now GP - as soon as the surprise element is revealed, haters dust off the banner and clench their fists. We're talking about big business services that will choose whats best by them, which wont always have broad appeal. We knew beforehand the games come and go, moaning on HUKD wont make a difference.
Iv just downloaded this because a few indie type games have been great so thought I'd try and so far so good. Looks very nice for the type of game that it is aswell.

The Division is simultaneously in both the "Recently Added" and "Leaving Soon" sections
Hoping this is a hint Division 2 is coming
