Winner of the 30th anniversary Arthur C. Clarke Award for Best Novel

Adrian Tchaikovksy's critically acclaimed, stand-alone novel Children of Time, is the epic story of humanity's battle for survival on a terraformed planet.

Who will inherit this new Earth?

The last remnants of the human race left a dying Earth, desperate to find a new home among the stars. Following in the footsteps of their ancestors, they discover the greatest treasure of the past age - a world terraformed and prepared for human life.

But all is not right in this new Eden. In the long years since the planet was abandoned, the work of its architects has borne disastrous fruit. The planet is not waiting for them, pristine and unoccupied. New masters have turned it from a refuge into mankind's worst nightmare.

Now two civilizations are on a collision course, both testing the boundaries of what they will do to survive. As the fate of humanity hangs in the balance, who are the true heirs of this new Earth?

Has been as low as 99p. Read it a month or two back. Recommended at the above price, but if you have any fear of spiders at all - it might be best to give it the swerve.

Bought this for 99p, but really recommend it at a higher price too. Really great read

Finished it at the weekend. So good I blew through it in under a week. I'm 'phobic but you sort of get endeared to the critters by the end.

*Mild spoiler, but vague enough to not ruin anything*

That line about Portia planning to trap a certain character chilled me.

Truly a brilliant read, just never a boring moment in it. He knows how to go the distance with his concepts. He leads you on this mad trip with a very obvious destination and conflict and when the time comes.. he goes balls out. It's just brilliant. Some lovely space opera touches throughout and a solid bit bit of hard-sci here and there to keep fans of these sorts of genres pleased.

Now I need to find another of his previous works to see if he has been as good as this before or if this is him peaking.

(High five emoji looks a bit national front...)

His "Shadow of the Apt" series are brilliant, you'll not regret trying them, unless you dislike a fantasy setting, not that they are like any other fantasy I've ever read.

Thanks for that, really appreciate the heads up.

Excellent book. Picked it up for 99p while on holiday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Flew threw it in a few days as couldn't put it down

Bought a paperback a few minutes ago from UK seller for £2.29. Excellent condition.

Yep, good book - got through it in a couple of days. Well worth a read, especially at this price!
