BTW, this is the cheapest 'Package 1' option. You can get other variants with an additional HDD and/or 16GB of RAM.

Looking at the review, this might appeal to people who like to do their own upgrades.

Looks like a lot of hardware for the price if it arrives with no duties
Great video. Bottom line, don't buy it!
Oh dear, check the video at around 13 minutes, they tried to slam him for over 600 dollars in import duties, because, the seller sent the item valued at over 2000 Dollars.... Yikes!

Oops! I didn't get that far into the review before posting.

It may just be as a new, Chinese-focussed laptop supplier, they were simply unaware of the implications of putting such a high valuation on the package. I suspect they will also read this review & henceforth drop the value to $100!

Hmmm, perhaps, but perhaps not.... If the laptop was available locally, then I would definitely pop down and test one, but the risks of such high duties or even the real duties been paid, does melt away a big chunk of its appeal.
Just finished watching the full review. Sounds like the laptop is okay-ish but the seller needs a bit of 're-education'.

Perhaps what struck me when I first saw this was that in terms of raw functionality, Chinese laptops are fast catching up with what you can buy from Dell, HP, etc but at a much lower price point. Maybe the Maibenben 7/16 is a sign of things to come.

Don't know anything about the CPU though . . dual core with a GTX 1650 is a weird mix

I think it's a desktop CPU too! However it looks like you can upgrade it to a four core if you want to. I'm looking forward to seeing the further reviews he does on this laptop.

What might be interesting down the track is if they might fit something like this, as it would potentially knock more off the price of this cheap lappy...

Am in the market for a cheap gaming laptop at the moment, and there is no such thing! So any movement south on the cost of a midrange performer is all good for me.
CPU isn't great
What a bizarre spec

Maybe not great but probably not pants either! Given that gaming performance is usually bound by the GPU, not the CPU, I'd rather have this than a 1050 with an Intel i7-9750H... especially for £585 (if that was the actual price!).

A few details on the Pentium Gold range of CPUs...

Yeah I have to agree in general about the specs, only issue some games won't work only 2 cores and need a work around to run correctly.

If I've understood things correctly, the 'new' G5420 looks very like the one year old G5400 but with a slightly higher clock rate (but maybe there's more to it???).

That being so, here's a YouTube video from one of those crazy Russians playing games on a system where he's paired a G5400 CPU & an Nvidia 1050. Not sure what settings he's using but he seems to be getting decent frame rate even on Far Cry (?) which is one of those games which isn't supposed to run with a dual core CPU.

Another interesting take on CPUs & gaming needs. Watch this video from 6:57 onwards to see the differences you get in gaming FPS between lowly Pentium Gold CPUs & mighty (or should that be hugely expensive but NOT so mighty?) i7's!

A 'different' kind of review of this laptop. Who said Chinese people don't have a sense of humour!!!

Not sure if this Chinese seller is kosher but they're offering the same laptop for $US 622 which on my maths calculates out as £499!

Wow! That's impressive!! I don't need a new laptop but at that price, it's tempting.
