they stole loads last year for their nests and scattered it all over my garden every day - the cat got a boot up its bum for not doing its job

Nice post Janz. I'm tempted. We are toying around with the idea of revamping the garden. We have three cats though, and a toddler. LOL

if buying in bulk it is cheaper in homebase.

120 litres for £6 approx but if you buy 3 bags you get another £2 off, so £16 for 360 litres! Heavy to load in the car though!

Nice one, thanks for that. Need a load for the Kids play area.

The neighbours aren't too keen either :whistling:

Wickes do 3 90 litre bags at £11.74, which works out a little cheaper than the Homebase offer.

There is not much between them, unless one of them is a lot closer to you than the other or you prefer the taste of one of them over the other!

Not everyone has a landscaper at work. you could say the same for reams of A4 paper, 3inch roundwire nails, fully synthetic engine oil or magnolia paint. A deals a deal a freebie is something different.

Now, the bark... freshly chipped stuff I believe, as it's not seasoned, will suck the nitrogen fom your soil.

Not a big deal I suppose if its just a play area. Also, there is such a thing as play bark I believe, it doesn't retain as much moisture and is a little less 'sharp'.

Of course I could be talking mince - in all repects - experts please ?

Further on that, most local allotments get this stuff free from the council, literally lorry fulls of it that they're happy to give away. Haven't voted.

well our council doesnt give it away and I work on a chemical plant so we dont have much call for landscapers

And because -your- local allotments doesn't give it away, means two posters (who have posted how to get it free, haven't posted cold on a possible good deal) are in our own little worlds, of course, clearly.
