Best I've bought have been from Costco valfrutta brand very good not watery cost about 3 for a £1 i think. Since buying these I've not gone back to supermarket ones at all

Meant to add im voting hot as its still a good deal

I agree, the valfrutta brand of plum tomatoes are on par with napolina or possibly even better.
Got these from Asda on Sunday. Made a spaghetti Bolognese and they were very watery. Wouldn’t bother with them again.

Yes I agree they are watery. Tips:
- drain them and use just the tomato (I do keep the water and add it in slowly)
- simmer until they are as wet / dry as you want
- add cornflour / corn starch to thicken (dry stock cube works well too)

Alternatively buy the cartons of Passata but it's more expensive

Good tips those indeed, thanks for sharing.
As a tomato is 94% water is it surprising they are watery? ID be more worried if they were artificially thickened.
I’ve used the East End chopped ones for about a month now and they are fine for the money @ 25p per tin. Better than supermarket own brand cheapies including Lidl and Aldi. They don’t say how much % tomatoes to water though.
I noticed the addition of the KTC brand to the offer a couple of weeks about haven’t purchased yet. I saw on tin that they are 65% tomatoes to water which is very nearly as much as premium brands.
Made a mistake one week and bought the East End plum ones instead of the chopped. They are a poor product with the same faults another poster has mentioned

FWIW I always buy the chopped ones and they are fine - steer clear of plum tomatoes in tin - if you need those, you are better off buying fresh.
Agreed, plum ones are difficult to use. Last time I bought them I ended up blending them before using
