This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

If like me, you've been wondering whether chromebooks are now a viable option, here's a decent deal.

This was £249 last week. Now £199. And they'll give you £50 off if you have an old laptop you can trade in against it (has to be working).

And the best bit is the free trial. You have 90 days to see if a chromebook is for you. If not, you can send it back for a full refund.

I paid £249 for this last week (less the £50 trade-in) and thought I was getting a good deal. This is even better.

Chrome OS on this supported until June 2025.

Does anyone know why they still don`t have 4g/Lte/WWAN on these laptops??

A mobile phone with the workings required is about £10!
Looks good if you can get it at £149

Like you say, phones are cheap so almost everyone has a phone capable of becoming a wireless hotspot to connect their laptop to the internet. I guess the manufacturers' research all points towards people not being interested in paying another monthly subscription for the sim card it would require
Not touchscreen, therefore limited

I'm with you there hermano2. You can pick up an Acer 15 Chromebook refurb from Laptops direct occasionally for £250. It comes with an FHD IPS touchscreen which is a gamechanger for Android apps. I'm not an LCD fan, but the screen is the best IPS I've used. The Acer 15 also has the Pentium N4200 as opposed to the Celeron N4000 here.
What model is this actually? The PC World page has the wrong details - it shows a S340 Windows version.

There is 10% cashback at Quidco on Chromebooks! £120 if this comes off.
And a further 1% cashback through Visa offers (firstDirect or HSBC)

Just out of curiosity, what android apps are people using on their chromebooks?
I'm trying to think of an app I use that would be more user friendly on a laptop but can't really think of any which is why I haven't taken the plunge on a Chromebook thus far.
Finally 1900 x 1080 on a sub £200 Chromebook with 4gb ram. Bruce bonus of 64gb hard drive too. Is this set to be the best budget Chromebook on the market?
So does this have a touch screen or not

If it's the 81TB0008UK then no. Performance of this should be pretty good with the N4000 processor and 4Gb ram, just the screen viewing angles with a TN display may not be great.

Google sheets is much easier,. And docs with the full keyboard.

Hearthstone works much better too.
Maybe I'm blind but can't see any reference to the 90 day trial. Is it possibly no longer available?

No stock locally, shame found an old laptop I could have traded in
Has anyone taken this offer and can report back on the quality?

Also, anyone got experience of the trial and whether it's as easy to return the laptop as they make out?
No stock locally for me too but took the old laptop (an ancient Gateway) to local store and they knocked the £50 off and arranged delivery to my home from another store :-)

If you don't mind purple this one IS available currys.co.uk/gbu…tml

Thanks OP

No feedback on the return. But I'm gradually becoming a chromebook convert. The hardest part was moving from firefox to chrome browser.

This chromebook allows you to install apps from both the chrome store, and from the android play store. Not everything from the play store works, but a critical few do. I don't see me returning it.

But ... my mobile needs are pretty modest - mail, browsing, some spreadsheet and word processor activity.

As an experiment I did a powerwash, and rebuilt the machine from scratch. Took less than 10 minutes - just log into the google account on the laptop and it all happens. So simple!

I still reckon £199 (or £149 if you have an old laptop laying around) is a cracking price for a chromebook which was only launched to the market at the beginning of August.

It's not that often I get the timing right but this and the purple have just gone up to £299. Good job I bought yesterday
