In The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena the player takes the role of Riddick, as played by Vin Diesel, using stealth and action to overcome the merciless crew of the predatory Merc-ship Dark Athena which awaits its prey in the dark reaches of space. Cheating death through a series of spectacular battles and events, Riddick will fight for his life amid a storm of malevolence and horror. The Chronicles of Riddick series of games takes the player deeper into the universe of Universal Pictures' films The Chronicles of Riddick and cult classic Pitch Black, which first introduced Vin Diesel as enigmatic anti-hero Riddick.

One of the original Xboxs most celebrated first-person shooters is given a second release alongside an original Riddick storyline in this recreation of the classic adventure.

Originally released beside the Chronicles of Riddick film, Escape from Butcher Bay is still considered one of the most notable first-person shooters of recent years, not to mention one of the few games based on a film that is arguably better than its source material. Rather than simply remaking the original title for a new audience, Assault on Dark Athena gives players both the original title and a completely new storyline to play through, as well as online multiplayer features.

Although Assault on Dark Athena has the everyday trappings of a first-person shooter, much of the combat requires a mix of styles that force the player to work for carefully placed stealth kills, as well fight in all-out gun battles. With Vin Diesel once more providing the voice for Riddick, the dark and looming atmosphere of both the original game and film are firmly in place.

Many Riddick fans would have been pleased to see a simple remake of the original Butcher Bay. Instead, Assault on Dark Athena completely reimagines the Riddick world with a huge collection of content both old and new.

To those who have played it, what did you think?

I'm a FPS fan myself and this looks quite interesting.

Demo out on PS3, but wasn't that impressed tbh. Sometimes gota play a game a bit to get in to it though, so sure others with it will give more thorough review.

Anyway, demo out as i say, if you wana try, providing you've got PS3, as dunno bout Xbox, lol!

I've just picked this up. I loved butcher bay on the xbox.
Really wanted to play it again. I'm currently working my way through it, and still loving it.
Very good and immersive fps.
Gfx are ok. Not amazing by todays standards. But gameplay is great. Not tried the dark athena part yet.
Worth it for butcher bay alone!

Very tempted but this has been falling steadily in price since its release so I'm gonna hold off til it's sub-£10 - heat added as it's the best price just now tho...

not a great game for the money, ive completed it on pc. oldish graphics etc. just like the guy above, id wait for it to drop under 10£

butcher bay was great due to the fact it had innovative graphics and gameplay. it only had doom3 and hl2 to compte with. now with same graphics and gameplay it doesnt stand a chance.

£ 20 in asda if you can't wait for delivery. It is a pretty decent game. only annoying thing is bullet lag, The rifles are like firing bow and arrows by the time it takes them to hit targets
