Sort of a good deal, but bear in mind that CWL are known for their regular discounting. Some of these have previously been on sale at 50% off.

Bought one yesterday at this price but ended up cancelling my order. I found a bid for Trident 600 Pro (Automatic) on ebay for around the same price and got that instead. I agree with Avallon though, i got my brand new Pro for £299 last Dec

There are a lot of options (strap and dial) for 38mm, eg. C60 or C8

I'm in the same boat, and a nice Hamilton Khaki field will fit nicely without any strap adjustment. If you want cheaper, then most Seikos will fit great. Any Seiko 5 or SNK or SARB will suit.
