A celeron with more ram then it knows what to do with. If only the processor was a step up it would actually be a decent machine for basic ms office and web browsing.
Typical chuwi products, all the specs on the paper but there's always something that flaws it. I got bit hard by their tablet line, screen was lush, except it has the touch sensitivity of a marshmallow.
I wouldntrecommend Chuwi, had a lapbook air that was great on paper but so slow in use, terrible white patches on edge of screen and would randomly blue screen.

Any idea what a 100w camera is? Drain battery in 20 mins

It's a pretty good celeron, but yes, you do wonder how much impact the screen will have.. They say it's the same screen as the Huawei Matebook 13, that's definitely a good thing. Does the USB C support charging the Gemibook, or does it just charge other things, not entirely clear...

i3/i5 £50/70 more would've been 👌🏻

soldering iron should sort that
As everyone has mentioned above....if only the CPU was better.
this is still a capable machine

its better than a i5-5200u 5th gen

Chuwi does decent products and this is a good price, but if you get hit with VAT and custom tax, that's a different story.
I can't believe how much RAM this has and what CPU they put in it. I bet if they would have put an i5, even an i3, they would have sold more units. I don't even know if this is a good or a bad deal, but if you are lucky to get it without paying taxes, it seems a good deal to me. I am actually tempted and and dont need it .

i just bought the bmax y11 which is 11.6" 8gb and the n4120 and a x360

this does look a better deal spec wise hence why i posted it but wanted a small travel laptop.

i don`t see the processor a deal breaker as compared to a 5th and 6th gen i5 which ran w10 perfectly this has more ram. and ddr4

means it's Washable at 100 degrees
I have a Acer Aspire ES15 with a comparable Intel N4200 CPU and 8GB ram and it's fine for simple things like word processing and browsing the web providing not many tabs are open (thank you Once extension). One reviewer has said it is poorly designed e.g. the ports are too close together but looking at the picture I think thats due to the adaptor.
What's interesting is that its the same CPU in the Chuwi Larkbox that gets 40-50% better results in testing, thats probably down to the Larkbox fan.

I agree, I still use my i3 old notebook and is fine, my new one is i5 8th gen, this CPU is somewhere in between, IMO closer to the i3. What I said, more people would have been tempted to place an order if it was an i5 and the price would have been pretty much the same or just slightly more. £50 more for an i5 and this wouldn't have close competitors.
It comes with DC charger, but I think it charges via USB C which is a big bonus. The keyboard is American, so I am assuming it will come with American charger too, but if it charges via USB C, I don't think it will be a problem.
Man...you should have not posted this. I really don't need it, but I want it . The good part for me not to place an order is the risk to get hit with taxes.

LOL

my ryzen 7 4800u is slightly faster like 7 times but this seems ok

i found a 512gb m.2 2242 this morning too for £35 but wont post that

Such a shame they put that crap processor in it. Appreciate it would probably be £100 more but even then it would be competitive with something even mildly midrange..
I've got arguably the older version of this, the Lapbook SE, and I have absolutely no idea why people are complaining about the processor. It is a cheap laptop, it will do web browsing, Office, and other light tasks just fine.
In terms of literally why not a better processor, the exterior is exactly the same as my laptop, ports have changed slightly, so I imagine they've just used the same motherboard with a bigger RAM chip, changed the CPU and a couple more bits.
Obviously 12GB is overkill but that's hardly a complaint.
Chuwi products just never seem finished / properly tested to me. Would probably avoid on that basis (plus the US keyboard, urrgh).
I know everyone is slandering the processor, however it has a passmark of 2700 which puts in the realms of a 2015 MacBook Pro. Which holds up quite well. This isn’t top of the range, but for college and uni students this should be a a great deal. This laptop could easily do Word processing, some photoshop and obviously watch YouTube and Netflix.
If you get it shipped from Spain, there should be no taxes to pay, right?

Yes I believe so I've done that with quite a few £18+ items on Aliexpres from Spain, France and Italy and didn't pay any extra.

LOL I can tell you categorically, this is not faster than an i5 5200. Having owned an i5 and n4200 which is near identical to the celeron, there is night and day diff, id take the i5 every day of the week
Message from Chuwi on AliExpress says it can definitely be charged by USB C(20V 2A).
A lot of people are saying about the processor, but remember it's a 2k screen, it will have an effect, probably have been better with a 1080p... I do like the 3-2 screen though.

It will do more than this, I can do everything you mentioned on my old i3 and this CPU is better than the i3 while 12GB RAM is impressive. However, I still find it strange to have Celeron and 12GB RAM together.

It is still a quite powerful Celeron. The name celeron just carries to much hate, when some celeron are actually quite capable.

It’s actually more powerful than n4200. This will perform on par maybe a little better than a i5 5200u.

Note in single core mode the i5 is 50% faster so with Windows 10 I would expect a drop in performance but I think the 12GB RAM could help by using a RAM disc for the browser cache and if funds permit disc caching software like primo cache.
EDIT: I forgot I did benchmark several RAM disc programs and the fastest was imdisk which I used for a while then found settings in firefox that increased RAM used for caching.

You can put the resolution down right in windows settings, to lower power consumption?
Just to sidestep the cpu argument- is there an option to order this without OS? Could make a fascinating price point.
Wow, that is ridiculous / outrageous.
Chuwi? No, thanks. Last product from Chuwi was tablet, battery exploded inside the tablet whilst on holls. Mess in the drawer, appaling customer service, would not recomend the brand.
