Probably less easy to avoid import duty on a laptop (as opposed to something small like a phone).

Hi Winchman, are you sure there's a spare M2 SSD slot in this model? Can't find anything about it...

If there is one, can Windows be transferred to it instead of the slower eMMC card?

Edit: Just read on the 'Final Words' section of Anandtech's review that it does indeed have an M2 socket, which I think (along with a decent FHD IPS screen) makes this a very good product (notwithstanding possible problems with import duties and support of course)....

Although it's nice to have something new i just bought a hardly used Asus TP300 with an i7 processor that will blow the one posted out of the water for about the same money. There are some bargains to be had where second hand 2 in 1 laptops are concerned and i would have no hesitation in doing the same again compared to a del like this one.

Where from?
Ebay? elsewhere?

Yes ebay. Just used my comment as a comparison to what you can buy for similar money. A second hand laptop looked after is definitely worth a buy. I have bought two in the last 12 months or so. The first was a Lenovo Yoga 300 as an Argos refurb. It came with the intel processor, 4gb ram and 500gb hdd. Great little machine for £104.99. It's going up for sale now since I bought the Asus. The TP300 I bought runs a 5th generation i7, 8gb ram and 1tb hard drive. Cost me £200.00 and is really nice conditions. No warranty but comparing that with buying something direct from China could be similar odds. I was after a Lenovo Yoga Pro but they go for too much money.

The Asus TP300 which is a flip laptop doesn't come up very often unlike other makes and models which either means Asus didn't sell many over here or people hang onto them. Same goes for the t300chi which I had, and although it was very nice, I found it very frustrating to use as it was a detachable two in one and thought each time I tipped the screen back that it was going to break. I sold it for more than I paid which was sweet. There is another tp300 on ebay which came up a couple of days ago and no, I am not the seller. Be careful though as Asus did 3 versions of this with i3, i5 and i7 processors.

I have this and there is definitely an SDD slot. I have done the upgrade and did a clean install of windows 10. I now have a 128GB SSD with 90GB free and a spare 64GB drive for photos etc.

Have done anything with regard to cooling?

I haven't bothered because I don't do gaming on it and overheating hasn't been a problem. Looking at the inside though, it seems a simple job.

Perhaps its just an issue if you choose to make it one, there are some who like to fiddle!!

Possibly. I saw a video on tech tablets website about how to do it and why, but I only do browsing and banking and a bit of tubey-tube, so overheating's not been a problem. The SSD was about speed and a bit more storage.

£175. This is an alternative to the Chuwi but has an all alloy body, 6Gb Ram, 1080p IPS screen, sadly it only has 'n' wifi not 'ac'. It 'may' come with a M.2 slot as there are versions with it, but don't bank on it. You can always use a 64 or 128gb micro sd. Don't know whether to put it as a deal as I'm sure it will be shot down, but its a shame for people not to be aware of it. I'm not aware of any all alloy ones at this sort of price/spec.
