Wow! Thanks OP. H&R added.

Gotta be worth a punt a this price. My son needs a PC for bedroom (homework, internet browsing, etc.). Can anyone recommend a decentish / cheap MoBo/CPU combination that would suit this? Already have a spare ATI Radeon 4670 knocking about.

Have a look here: novatech.co.uk/nov…tml .

Novatech is pretty good for motherboard bundles.

Many thanks ZedEx. Much appreciated. Reputation added.

Would this PSU be able to handle a quad core cpu and a 4850/4870 or similar?

@ Martyn

I know that the 4870 is a hungry card when it comes to power usage, at maximum however it should still only max out at around 175-190 Watts. So with one HDD and one Optical drive it shouldnt be a problem and a 450w should run it all. If you are going to be using more than one optical drive or HDD and multiple devices powered via USB etc then i would advise a PSU with a higher Wattage.

Some thing like a 650w should cover all your needs and not put the PSU under undue stress.

For some good information on both the cards you have mentioned visit this site that takes an indepth look at the power consumpion for the cards : xbitlabs.com/for…794 .

Thanks for that, rep left.

Crackin budget deal !!

I signed up just to denigrate this. I picked one up from Microdirect and there are really no good at all. I felt I had to warn you all.

* forget the free stuff - the speakers are dreadful, no better than laptop speakers. The mouse is ps/2 (in 2009!!). The keyboard is nothing special
* screwless is a lie I think - I had to use screws for the disks.
* build quality is not good - very hard to get the sides off - I ended up bending mine. normal screws on here too
* Build quality on the front is dodgy too - bit of pressure on the front and the audio/usb unit snapped off inside. Had to glue it back.
* Objective view - the PSU is rather noisy. No great shakes here
* Cool blue light on the front tho!!

This is a bad deal. And it's 2GBP more expensive than MD.
