Ha Sarden... I ordered one of these today but from scan for delivery tomorrow! As my awd it 3300x came today... Except no psu! (500w coolermaster)

I liked the front and back fans and the easy place for hdd and ssd. And looks cool too but not too flashy! Was worried the even better looking dk d3 was a bit cramped for a noob builder.

Yeah a real shortage of psus... Cougar looks ok after doing some research. Hopefully awd it can send me one of them if out of coolermaster.

Oh... And got another rx 480 from previous seller you highlighted today via ebay alert! Small world!

yeah these are basic cases with good airflow, bit like a tesco value range, no major frills and some isnt bad tbh!. does the job just nice. // if the ££ counts these are good, why spend ££ on a case, when u can add it elsewhere, and alot will agree with that.
each to their own.

same as the Adata ram its good basic decent and idea for gaming ram. 3000mhz, reliable does the job and not expensive.
Kolink PSU, never had a rubbish one, been reliable and the cougs pretty decent too, had that afew times.

// just another idea all this to help folks,

Given current ssd prices I am also getting 3.5" hdd from cex.

They are 9.95 including postage for 500gb. Can use up my old vouchers from previous sales too.

Toshiba seemed to be the fastest cheap 500gb model.

So using 240gb ssd boot and fave game and 500gb hdd for other games.

The ssd you linked is m.2?

What is difference between that and (a) cheap chinese ssd (b) proper brand ssd?

I just got an asus b450m-k so m.2 is new to me! Sata cables before!
a) cheap chineese = fail rate b) reliable tested usual alot better, but there is still come rubbish brand stuff about.

more in depth information regarding nvme vs m2 vs normal SSD: online-tech-tips.com/com…on/

have a read if your not update on it,

typical 240GB SSD regardless of format are good value, u get the boost for the O/S, speed rates regardless of which of the above,
+ then load of hdd space for the games, the best value is the 2TB hdd (new.. £52, vs say £35 for 1tb) so very worthy, games are in excess of GB's so the cost to have games on SSD is expensive, can blow someones budget, someone with higher budget may get a half a TB 500/ish cos it gives abit more freedom, and can whack there fav 1/3 games on to it. then the rest on hdd..

great cost saving method, however with the bundle i set above, i choose the m2 sata, its afew quid over a cheap SSD sata and very worthy of that few quid extra while thats down on price and normal SSD are high.(not as high as they were but still high).

Ha. My son plays Fortnite with his friends and pokemon on his own. That is why I got this new pc as switch emulator too slow on the sandy bridge i7s.

Been talking to a youtuber and might not be clock speed ( esp now yuzu is Multi core ) but lack of avx2 instruction set. Makes sense now as overclocking didn't change much and cpu utilization not 100pc but still really low fps in some games. So it is being bottlenecked elsewhere. And lack of avx2 cited on some forums.
Personally if I were spending this much I’d use the Kolink K3 from Currys. A little bit worse airflow but much better build quality, a tempered glass side window, and some RGB lighting for £27.99 delivered.

I was looking at Kolink stronghold but a review showed temps were 15 degrees higher than other cases due to no access at the front. So my focus was on mesh panels and front and rear fan. If you are comfortable fitting your own fans then a lot more choices for better cases!

For budget gaming rig focus for me is temps.

Does having games on a standard 500gb HD affect performance?
I have 2 pc's at home, one is a better/gaming capable setup that has two SSD's in and my other is a HP Elite 8300 SFF core i5 with a 500gb HD.
I was thinking about taking one SSD out of my better pc and adding it into the hp along with a graphics card to give gaming capabilities across both units

For some games yes! I noticed massive load times on far cry 5 and kingdom come deliverance which shortened massively when moved to ssd.

So if you find a game has infuriating long load times when you die then it is worth putting it on. Then when you get bored of that game, move it back to the hdd.

Thanks pal
How do you move the games? Uninstall and reinstall or can you literally "move" them?

On steam - there is an option to move folders! so nice and easy! Worth their 30% commission lol.
howtogeek.com/269…it/

For fortnite... (and therefore other epic games store games I'd believe) a trick is to copy them over... rename the folder to fortnite_BACKUP
then start to install fortnite... it will create a proper folder.. then pause it.. exit the launcher...
then cut and paste the files from back up folder to the newly created folder...
then reload the launcher and it will see if has the files already and just check them

for uplay... I cannot remember if a move option but there is a CHECK option. So you can move the folder. Open uplay and there is a check game option and you point it to the folder.

definitely doable - easiest with steam. there are more detailed tutorials out there as I got that little heck from fortnite via googling.

The problem with amazon reviews, which one are they reviewing?.... its a compiled list of various of types of PSU on there, and the global review is for them all.. so what is exactly are "users suppose to get from that"...? of the interested ones folks want, thats one half of a leg of issues with amazon.

however.

The ones on amazon are the kolink, C**** Range, 80+ and i will state myself some pretty crap, there isnt a psu firm which dont have low/med/high/ultra. the one i have selected from CCL is the 500 KL-***v2 version, which is a bronze.
My 10 uear old son and I installed this today with our new 3300x build. Took 3 hours for our first build!! Cable management ... Lots of room to stuff the extra osu cables ha.

Would recommend putting in front header pins before psu!

It is light and cool.

Best comment... My son said it looked like "a youtuber's pc"!

We normally use ex hp workstations
