I quick google shows them to be ugly as f*** and a completely different style from the Citizen here. Incidentally they also don't appear to be chronographs.

May be a good watch but it's a different style of watch, it has a rubber strap as opposed to stainless steel. Why not compare this good Citizen with a Rolex or a plastic swatch both irrelevant imo

Admit the monster is a nice watch but, 1 it is an automatic and 2 the monster costs more. Not sure about the original price on the Citizen though, to me £99 is about its worth

I quite like it

I bought an eco drive watch from argos via hotukdeals a couple years back and I havent had a single problem with it...looks almost identical to this one and well worth the price...use it everyday and it has been faultless...

why is it a better watch? Just because you have one or does it grant untold wealth and riches to the wearer or something?

The Monster uses a 7s26 movement that is accurate to within around 20 seconds per day. I have had a fair few of these movements in seiko watches and although they are robust, you need to put them right every week. Most people now a days find a quartz watch far more accurate.

Is it waterproof?

Original Poster

yes it's also waterproof, although I'm not sure to what depth.

I don't get why people are voting cold, an eco drive chronograph watch for under £100 is good I thought

The Seiko is generally accepted by watch aficionados as being the best value watch at under £500...

The citizen is a decent bit of jewellery with a circuit board inside it but I wouldn't thank you for one.

have one , bought at £70 ... really good watch

I also got the Citizen Eco Drive from Argos couple of years back for £50. One for me, second one for my father. We both love it and except for the fact I scratch mine, they are great.

To bad that Argos deal is off now as I think they where better looking, but it is my taste maybe

So you speak from authority do you? I have nothing against Seiko, but the Citizen eco-drive is a fine watch with a proven record. I've got two, plus a Breitling, an Ebel and several other watches. I use a Citizen titanium chronograph every day. 'Nuff said

Please show me which one you refer to as all I see, when googling, are the rubber strapped ones. None the less I have no need for a divers watch and my Tissots do me fine.

Although very similar, the Argos one is a different watch. The H.Samuel one is an Eco-Drive (model is JQ8005-56E (Promaster Wingman I believe). The Argos one has a similar face but a different bezel, and doesn't appear to be Eco-Drive - but it could just be a poor description.

If the H.Samuel one isn't Eco Drive it will be going back.

If the one in samuals is an ecodrove then that is a great price, tempted myself. I cant find any info to suggest this is an ecodrive, apart from hsamuals description
Edited by: "steviecross" 20th Jun 2011

Now confirmed according to this thread that its not an Eco Drive.

Thanks, was a bit suspicious as samuals are not the cheapest and to see the item cheaper than argos, mmmm . Shame though, i have owned the one from argos and returned it due to poor quality bracelet that kept catching the hairs on my arm.

Purchased from H.Samuels. Very nice looking watch. Comes with 5 Year warranty. Sold as a chronograph, but is a normal watch with a 0-60 min timer only. Still worth IMO £99. Better than that ugly fuc???? not suprised its called a monster.
