Four decades later, Beijing police ask nanotech engineer Wang Miao to infiltrate a secretive cabal of scientists after a spate of inexplicable suicides. Wang's investigation will lead him to a mysterious online game and immerse him in a virtual world ruled by the intractable and unpredictable interaction of its three suns.

Strange, yet excellent, Sci fi book.

The whole trilogy is a worthwhile read, the story has an amazing scope!
Definitely worth getting. I thought the first half of the second book dragged a bit but the story just keeps expanding after that.
Truly superb trilogy. Some of the best sci-fi of recent years.

That's good to know, thanks, I'm a quarter into The Reality Dysfunction (quite good) at the moment but I will possibly go back to the rest of that Three Body trilogy.

Excellent book which is often strange and confusing but absolutely brilliant. Stick with it because it gets more and more intriguing throughout, some of the most original and unique ideas I've read in any scifi book. Well worth a couple of quid!

I'm halfway through the second audiobook (The Dark Forest). I had to listen to the first book twice to understand what it was about. The Chinese names were offputting making it hard to understand. I wouldn't say it's amazing but it's decent sci-fi. Although the second book is a little long winded (I read that in the reviews before I used up a credit) no doubt I'll finish it and buy the final audiobook in the trilogy.
