The high street shoe shop is so sure that its fitting system is the real deal that it's offering any kid who grows out of a pair of its shoes before February 28th the opportunity to swap them in store for free. The deal applies to all full price back to school kids shoes, so you can use it when buying boots, plimsolls and sports shoes.
There are some exceptions, of course.
Firstly, don't go running to Clarks with your child's scraggly old school shoes from two years ago.
You're only allowed to swap shoes that have been bought between July 13th and September 14th this year, and the shoes must have been fitted by a trained Clarks fitter in store - meaning no online orders will be counted.
Secondly, you can only swap a shoe if it's infant size 10 and above, and you'll have from the date of purchase until February 28th next year.
If you're buying infant sizes seven to nine and a half, the deal will run for slightly less time - until November 30th 2020 - you know, because little kids' feet grow quicker, and all.
And if you want to swap a pair of shoes, you'll need to show your receipt at the counter (naturally).
Then, a Clarks fitter will measure the old shoes against your child and confirm that they no longer fit, before permitting them to pick a new pair.
You only have until the specified date (either November 30th or February 28th) to return the shoes to swap, and no swaps will be authorised after these dates.
Plus, you can only get a pair of shoes that are the same price as the old pair.

The title is very misleading, especially once you read the t&cs.
The only reason they're doing this is so that you buy shoes now at full price instead of later when they're on sale. Poor deal

Have to say probably more chance of my kids destroying the shoes before 2021 rather than outgrowing them.3 weeks we got out of one pair last year we didn't make it out if September.

For me the title reads as 'find any pair of shoes from Clarks that no longer fits and they will replace them for a new one'. Not buy a pair now and only replaced if it doesn't fit by February. 7 months is still decent but is entirely different to what was expected. I think title should mention dates.

Says full price shoes so I would suspect it won't.

Ohh
I always buy my kids school shoes from clarks but they kast whole school year without any rip, just scrathes on the toe on the shoes
*last
They’ll be sure to leave PLENTY of growing room I’m sure.
I love Clarks shoes, but never make the mistake of going the last week of Summer hols to get them..the queues were ridiculous
Darn I just bought a pair yesterday (£48!!) but not via an online booked appointment we just went in and waited our turn. It is quite a trek to our nearest Clarks shop. It seems in the t&cs I’m not covered. Grrrrr. Great deal though. Thanks for posting. Heat from me.
Went to Clarks yesterday, what has happened to that business? It had the feel of a car showroom. Horrible pressure tactics, guilt tripping you into buying shoes that obviously don't fit properly.

i would call your local branch and explain - i’m sure they would help by letting you ‘re-buy’ if needs to be within certain dates on receipt? have to say - mine would always wreck before growing out of! good luck!
prob overthinking but if you have friend’s/siblings of slightly different shoe size and all keep receipts you can gtee childs foot size would have changed when you go in? new shoes all round and donate a fixed amount to anyone in the group who doesnt manage to get the freebie so they dont miss out?? or just wear thicker socks in february to give a little more growing room when measured?? dont like to scam when a company trying to help (obvs for both their benefit and the customers) but this is hotdeals??
"Clickbait" advertising. Don't be mislead into thinking they will give you replacement shoes for those you have ALREADY. The advert applies to anything you BUY NOW, if and only then is there an issue, that's when their clever choice of words are effective. Despite Clarks name being synonymous with quality etc, this form of advertising speaks volumes. I really do hope they are not that desparate for custom.

Absolutely, the mods really should have changed the title of this one.

I’ve never had that experience in Clarks.

The mods have already changed it from what I had it as which was 'Clarks Back to School Fit guarantee'

There’s always one ...
We buy Clarks shoes every year for our two and every year they grow out of them in about May / June time. I'm guessing Clarks have worked out that most kids won't grow out of them by Feb.

Out of interest when is the best time to buy them on sale? We've got two pairs in the basket ready to buy (I did the measure at home thing).
Clarks have some great shoes but my god is the service awful. I regularly order online for collection in store, and it’s painful to watch how slowly they walk out back to get the delivery, knowing they are going to be a good ten minutes before they come back out. And the computer bit seems to take forever too - free delivery to store is great, but it puts me off buying from the shop every time

Yes, I thought it applied to all shoes so was thinking what a great deal, as the shoes we purchased last August were only used until March, but then when getting to terms and conditions it says they have to be purchased since July this year. From excitement to sadness
This is a reasonable deal. A lot of parents will be dropping £40 or £50 a pair on school shoes in the next few weeks, as they've not been worn since March. Stick the receipt in the box at the back of the cupboard and you're covered til Feb half term for growth spurts.

If you want to steal some shoes, surely it would be easier to ask to try some shoes on and run out of the shop?

It is but the title alone gets the article hits wherever it is published. I saw this in The Sun & thought it was a brilliant idea as my child has barely got any wear out of her school shoes, due to covid, but reading on I thought it was still a good idea. I’ll be checking it out this weekend if shop is not massively busy
When they measure their feet, they will increase it by one size, so they won't grow out of they by Feb 2021
Too many IFs.

I can't seem to open the t and c on my phone... What are the gotchas?
Oh - I misread it, thought I could take the battered ones back that he's been in the sea in for some new ones so voted hot - lol
Never mind, he mostly runs around barefoot anyway, feral little crazy!
I thought this was a good offer until I clicked
I tried Clarks once, I worked in a rival store previously, they 'fitted' all four of my children in shoes far too big for them. 'Room to grow' they claimed. My children are not clowns, they wear correctly fitting shoes! It is little wonder Clarks can make this offer, feet do not grow THAT much.
I do suspect in January there will be multiple posts offering swapsies on worn Clarks shoes with receipts
I actually worked for 10 years in Clarks and unfortunately have to add that this is a marketing gimmick.

A few key points:
-In Clarks your trained to allow 14mm of growing room as a minimum. This is an incredibly generous amount of space.
-Children tend to have growth spurts during Spring months - hence why this guarantee is only until February.
-The reason Clarks only guarantee shoes from size 10 onwards is because children grow their fastest in their first few years. After this period, growth rates slow.

In a nutshell, it is virtually impossible for a child to outgrow an accurately fitted pair of shoes in the period Clarks allocated.

The only reason a child would outgrow a pair of Clarks shoes is if they were self fit, wrongly fitted by Clarks or if it was necessary to downsize the shoe size due to feet being against the norm (ie slim ankles).

When I worked I Clarks even though it was never set in stone, it was an expectation that school shoes lasted a minimum of 6 months and anything that fell short was generally exchanged. The only difference is that Clarks have now advertised this.

Also, on the chance the impossible happens and the child has outgrown the shoes, if the shoes have fallen apart, shoes exchanged will be subjected to the fair wear and tear test. If Clarks feel the shoes have been worn beyond what is considered to be fair wear and tear, they may refuse an exchange.
utterly misleading, the title implies they are giving out free shoes, no, the offer is if you buy a pair of shoes using their fitting service, they guarantee to replace them if your child grows out of them by feb next year!
