Absolute rubbish, that person has obviously got an axe to grind for some reason. Like the poster above I buy shoes from Clarks when they are discounted heavily like this deal. I have been buying them for years! They are easily the most comfortable shoes I have to wear, always extremely well made in my opinion and last for absolutely ages if you have 2 or 3 pairs on the go like I do. Even if I wore one pair continuously I would expect to get 2-3 years wear out of them absolute rubbish! And no I am in no way affiliated with Clarks shoes!!!

To be fair newbold those shoes in that video could be several months or years old and worn by footy loving kids! I've bought clarks shoes for work and though not overly stylish they have always lasted me a reasonable amount of time. I usually buy a pair during the sale so I've got a pair in reserve but I've found them to be fine!

There's a long running thread over on MSE about the issue of corroding soles on Clarke's shoes.

I own 3 pairs, which are a couple of years old. I haven't encountered this issue on this particular style (yet!), but I'd be pretty cautious about ordering any other Clarke's shoes, until the company acknowledge that there is an issue with materials used somewhere in the supply chain, and take measures to prevent it happening.

Agreed. I see so many Clarks haters in these threads even with 70% off sale. I rate Clarks second to Ecco shoes in my size and shape feet but bang for buck they win and their styles are just as good. Certainly in the sale anyway. I have a couple of pairs of Clarks still going strong with occasional use and they still look and feel like new.

Who would spend the time making videos of broken shoes? But saying that there is worse out there so better shoes than something else.
To those who don't believe all the bad things constantly being posted here and elsewhere about the self-destructing, dissolving, brand new Clarks shoes that they're washing their hands of - just try this, it's very simple and won't take you long.

Just put the words Clarks and hydrolysis into Google and see what you get. Then you might begin to understand why so many people are furious about the problem of rotting Clarks shoes - and the pittance that Clarks are prepared to offer by way of recompense for what probably amounts to hundreds of thousands of pairs of useless disintegrating shoes across the globe.
I have Musto boots and they fit like a glove, the Musto shoes made by Clark’s are an awful fit. However great price.

I have bought all my suit shoes and leisure shoes from Clarks for years and they have always been great. Their size 10 - is a size 10. I have just inspected my soles and there seems to be no sign of disintegration. Bought my son a pair of shoes for 20 Euros in Spain - they on the other hand have disintegrated.
"I tend to buy a couple of sizes and then when you pick them up from the clarks shop they will give you a refund for the ones you don't take".

Yes I do the same, even though I have been a size 10 all my adult life you can't be too careful, hence I order a size 6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13 and return the 7 pairs that don't fit leaving me with a size 10.

Still have my faith in Clarks shoes, just ordered 8 pairs delivered free. Will probably decide on 2 pairs for an extremely reasonable price and return the other 6 to the shop for a refund. Two pairs of shoes with genuine leather uppers which will easily last me 3 years+ for the poultry price of £45 result!
Fantastic price, thanks

The crumbling appears to be an "environmental feature" from many shoe manufacturers, not just Clarks. The plastic soles are designed to be biodegradable. However, if you leave the shoes unwarn, moisture can get into the plastic, triggering it to decompose in your closet, rather than in landfill. If you wear them occasionally, then the plastic will be fine.

Obviously Clarks as they would be the retailer, how simple do we have to make things?

Quite. But you're missing the point entirely - they still don't compensate properly, even when they're the seller as well as the manufacturer.

Sorry, but that's absolute garbage - this video has been put out by a shoe retailer, and it's obviously designed to persuade their customers that crumbling shoes are normal. 'Environmental feature' - that's a good one!

Clarks aren't the only company affected, true, but other companies are compensating customers for their failed shoes (caused by a manufacturing problem). Clarks are taking the line that they'll duck the issue - hence all the bad publicity for Clarks online.

Have you managed to buy a car that doesn't rust? If clarks made shoes that didn't erode over time then they'd be out of business in a few years and everyone would be wearing clarks.

Put that car in a garage, don't use it, and it won't rust. Put your Clarks shoes away unused for a while and they'll disintegrate. That seem reasonable to you

I think with the colours on offer they will definitely go with red trousers.
Thanks picked up some shoes for work bargain
Don't forget Clarks also have an outlet website which always has stuff at reduced prices, sometimes really low.

In fact, they have a clearance sale on right now:
clarksoutlet.co.uk/c/sale

They often have free delivery (no minimum cost, like now) and also offer free returns (always), so you really have nothing to lose. I've bought and returned 4 items for a total cost of £0

I've got a pair of Clark's shoes that I bought from a Clark's outlet in Florida back in 2001 and they are excellent quality.

I made two orders for shoes at the end of last year.

The first pair were for look-a-likes of the Timberland "Classic 3 Eye Lugs". I've had multiple pairs of the Timberland's and the quality is generally very good but the soles wear out too quickly.

Anyway, the Clark's shoes arrived. To say they they were a pair of £15 shoes at best would be complimentary. Absolute garbage of a product. They were immediately returned. They were made in Portugal.

I also ordered anther pair of slip on shoes and they were not wonderful either. I wouldn't have considered forking out more than the sale price for them.

I'm sure Clark's still make decent shoes but at the same time I get the feeling they have an awful lot of low grade items on sale via the outlet that might look like a bargain.

I also purchased two pairs of Clark's desert boots in the USA. The same boots retail for about £115 each here. I paid US$100 for two pairs thinking I was getting a bargain. Again, the quality factor is very very light and US50 per pair might even be a bit much.

Especially considering I have previously bought Timberland boots for US$42 a pair delivered in the USA, which are vastly superior quality.
clarks quality has gone down hill, i unfortunately bought 4 pairs in a sale. only used 2 pairs so far and both have started leaking water and the leather is coming away from the sole after only a few months of use.

will never buy again
That sale started weeks ago with 50% off and they only have sizes left that almost nobody needs.
Can't seem to pay for anything!!!! MEH!!!!
