Nice one, I can now play 3 way mario Kart (unless I get 2 then it's all 4)

p.s does anyone know if you play say tennis on the wii sports with this type of controller or do you have to use a wiimote

Gamecube controllers are a cheaper option. good price for this still though

You have to use the wii remote, actually just trying to imagine using a controller for the tennis on Wii Sports, my god would it be dull!...lets face it Wii Sports Tennis is hardly that "controllable" your player automatically moves into the ball space and the game relies on you to flick the wii remote in order to take a swipe at the ball. Imagine using a gamecube/classic controllers A button to mimic that task.....not fun!

essential for mario kart wii!

not bad for the n64 games you can download either, and essential for streetfighter 2!

great price

I find the nunchuck and wii remote personally the best style for playing on Mario Kart, you can flick the wiimote upwards to do the jumps and like the ease of accuracy cornering using a analogue stick in combination with the powerslides.

On disadvantage of the Classic controller over Gamecube controllers is that it can only be used for Wii games and the Wii shop games, it cannot be used with Gamecube games.

Another option for wireless joypad play would be to pick up a Wavebird if you can from anywhere. However if you don't play any Gamecube games on your Wii anyway, then the style and function of the Classic Controller would be just fine.

There are about 5 active threads for this.
Just bump one of them.

The last 'active' thread is two months old. If it had been a month I would have done (as I have often done in the past), but given the combination of it now being 2 months since last posted, and this having been out of stock for a good while, I thought it worth a new post. YYMV of course.

It may have been started a while ago, but they were in stock according to this post ~3 weeks ago.

Are classic controllers wired? Seems strange in this day and age of wireless technology??

Yes, it's been out of stock since then.

If you have a problem with the thread feel free to report it to the mods. I'm more than happy for them to remove it if it was wrong of me to post it. Heck, I've even reported my own threads before when I've accidentally posted a dupe. ;-)

Indeed. Voted hot because it's a good price for the Classic Controller, but you're better off buying a GameCube controller because then you can play GameCube games too! (Or get a Wavebird for wirelessness)

considering its at 118 i think it was worth posting again IMO.

Sort of.....
It has a short wire that plugs into a wiimote (Like the nunchuck), which is wireless.
So it is wired, but not to the wii.

EDIT: Looks like these are out of stock now anyway.
Im in 2 minds at the moment whether I should be getting one of these, or a GC controller.
Not interested in GC games, but I am interested in GC homebrew (Like emulators) which currently uses a GC controller.....
decisions, decisions.....

It's not strange when you look at how cheap they are compared to a wavebird and 360 controller. (over £30 RRP)
The classic pad has no battery compartment or bluetooth, it takes them from the Wiimote.

Question is, would people pay £30 for a proper wireless classic pad? Its not like you trip over the wires or anything, and same price as a snes pad in 1992.
Our culture is so fussy

Ah, OK. So they're semi-wireless
My concern was that with the way you pay the Wii, you tend to place the console as far away from the player as possible, and thought either the wire would not reach or you'd have a long wire dangling acrosss the room. I just assumed it was wired, as I can see the wire at the bootom of the controller, in the picture. So basically it plugs into the wiimote, like a nuchuck? What happens with the wiimote? Does it just dangle on the end?

seem to be back in stock now - i just ordered one

Yeah...hope it doesn't take too long to get them. Thanks nightswimmer once again.

Am not sure about other games, but I read that the new MarioKart for Wii says you can use a Gamecube controller, but not all features will be available. Anyone know more?

It's listed as "In Stock" on the website at the moment (5.30pm 17th April).

I've just ordered one so fingers crossed.
