Went into my local Sainsbury in Norwich and they are selling Dyson DC44 animal S (not the cheaper DC35) in clearance for £199.99. I do not know if this is just in Norwich or whether other stores are doing this as well. Seems a good prce as it is £80 off their online price

Why people pay this for a cheap plastic China import beats me when you could get a decent hoover for that money...Yes Meile /Sebo

Interesting 17 people reviewed this product on the sainsbury site and all of them gave it 5 out of 5 but obviously gr8h8me knows better. Cant seem to load receipt at the moment as proof

Had our dyson for 11 years, still going strong. Used in a house with 2 kids and a dog! I think they're brilliant products!

The only thing with reviews is that people tend (or sometimes are only allowed) to review a product via a link received not long after purchasing the product. So the review generally doesn't include any kind of real longevity. No one would argue that Dyson products pick up really well, but this model is a battery type. These have a very short battery life of only a few minutes, which rapidly decreases with each charge. If that's all you need that's ok for you, but for me it's not good enough.

I got a referb dc44 from Dyson eBay outlet last week for £170 but this is still a great price.

This is the best cordless I have ever used and even, far better than my upright vax.

Oh, I agree with regard to battery operated, high(ish) power consumption units, like this, that suck the life out of a battery but it would seem that there are quite a few people on here who will always vote XXXX as cold because they can buy a similar XXXX for half the price and Dyson is a good example of this tendency.

It matters not a jot to them that the more expensive item comes with a much longer warranty or that it's more capable or does the job better or that the cost of ownership is less - seems to be just a case of "it ain't cheap and so it ain't worth the dosh".

p.s. we've had our Dyson for 4 years and it's been worth every penny of the £240 that we paid for it. Would I buy another one - yes. Did I look at lots of others before buying the Dyson - yes. Did I find anything that I felt was all-round better value for money - no, and that's still my opinion

Meile and Sebo are made of ABS Plastic. Dyson cleaners are Polycarbonate, this is the material that bullet proof glass is made from. The cost of the Polycarbonate is several times that of ABS Plastic and the tooling to support precision Polycarbonate is much higher.

The country of manufacture does not have ability of the cleaner. Also Meile /Sebo don't make Hoovers.

As for customer service I've been very impressed with Dyson's aftersales.

Why are there a few people on here that try to educate people with stupid facts. I don't care if a vacuum is made steel, plastic or wood, and very sturdy without creaking is all that I care about, my Meile works a lot better than the rubbish Dyson make.
Why is it also someone has to say it's not a Hoover...We all know Hoover is a brand and we all know they also own Candy. Their base is in Merthyr Tydvil and their Built In division is near Liverpool and they are now Italian. We know they nearly went bust for a flights promotion. We know they make everything abroad now. So I would suggest we just use Hoover as a generic term that everyone knows.
This way some idiot doesn't have to keep saying the same thing every time a vacuum is on a deal....
