Was just at John Lewis browsing then I saw a bunch of laptops on clearance and for great prices. One in the title was the best I could see there.

Acer Aspire 5750G i5-2430M 2.4GHz, 8GB RAM, 1 GB Nvida Geforce GT 540M, 750 GHB HDD for £300 (no box however)

Were several others:
Sony vio i3 - £450
Lenvo Yoga i7 - £759

others, i3 starting from £250
Some AMDs, but I'm not too familiar with their CPUs to know if they were at good prices. Sure these are probably one off but thought it may help people looking for a cheap deal and there were several as I said on clearance.

Note: John Lewis offer 2 years cover
recently gave mines in last month nearing the 2 year mark and I got my laptop back within 5 days though the guy told me I was pretty lucky to get it back so quick. Normally takes 2-4 weeks, but definitely adds reassurance.

might check my local john lewis in case they're reducing prices on laptops nationwide but probably won't be.

They might be already clearing out stock nation wide, worth just having a check I suppose in your area. Hopefully can find good deal yourself.

Hot if you can find one without a box.

awesome deal

Good price but it's probably been hammered by kids button pressing as it's a display model

Good price for the spec, but from experience Acer batteries are naf.

True but the 2 year warranty would easily cover that. I gave my laptop in for track pad repair, they checked everything. Gave me new cover top, cleaned the inside and replaced the cpu fan and mouse buttons and battery.

Here for your reference, keyboard wasn't hammered lol, looked fine to me and I turned it on to see if it was working and it was preparing for first time use.

Decent laptop for the price. Heat.

Good price, considering that popular vendors like SCC Trade are selling five-year-old Grade B HP i5s for £212.

Nice price. I'll pop in to my local one tomorrow but offers like this are usually snapped up quickly.

Can't click and collect, can't order online, good deal if you get lucky and find the 1 that's available but that's unlikely at best, might as well just burn some petrol in your back garden and waste an hour looking at the stars. I'm going to go out on a limb and call this "Another wild goose chase". COLD.

very unfair post Cattle. All very good deals are obviously going to sell out quickly and be hard to get. You shouldn't vote something cold just because you can't get one.
This is an amazing deal for the price, or do you know of a better one you can share ?

Excellent price for the spec but like other have said, You'ld be lucky if u could find 2-3 per region & as stock clearance it may not be Nationwide.

I'd understand why you'd vote it cold but the post just seems rather silly simply because if you had read the description I more or less said that it's probably a one off. I also said there were several on clearance, maybe just one of this laptop but this could help others find other models on clearance and maybe they are having clearance nationwide. You don't have to go check! but others may be passing by or whatever, least they'll know that store is having a clearance or they can check their local one.

Thanks for that, hot or cold, it helps to know if there is a clearance going on right!?

These are either ex display or customer returns, not really a deal more pot luck (i work in john lewis tv and audio)

such a cynical attitude! It is useful to people who live close to JL in this area!

There are too many 'offers' on here which are a one and only, in store only. These are not offers at all.
If its nationwide, then that's an offer and worth the heat. voted cold

That's an excellent price for that Acer. Good find

I'm a HUKD fan and I'm a JL fan but I don't think this post is going to help many people for all the reasons given above.

It's more a 'look what I got' post than a 'look what you could get' post.

I won't vote cold but good luck searching!

it's a one off, it is clearly written on the paper "without box". That's not really a clearance.

Sorry I'm going to go a little victor meldrew here. If someone spots something which is a deal, whether it's a few managers specials remaining in a store or nationwide and they go to the trouble to post it, shouldn't they be thanked? It might have some use to someone and whilst we might have our reasons to vote cold, I'm not going to waste my time by posting a comment saying ' it's beyond my can't be arsed 30 mile limit so I'm going to down vote you', Jesus. Right now I've started my day on a high I think I'm going to have a chat with some of these energy companies......

Thanks for posting this. I live about 3 miles away from a JL and cycle past it most days but never go in. Next time I will go and have a look and might find a bargain and get a 2 year warranty thrown in.

If not I've not lost anything. If OP hadn't bothered taking the effort to actually post a deal then I'd have never known about it.

Probably got more chance of finding something here than the masses of phantom Asda & Tesco "in store" deals. Either my stores never have them or they are simply made up.

Worth a punt.

thanks op and yes I 2nd the above comment. I work kinda close by and would of bought this laptop yesterday on my way back from work if only JL was open till 9 like its supposed to be. Might pop in before work but i doubt it will still be there. Thanks OP, good work, keep it up.

An hour looking at the stars isn't wasted!

The no box one is an incredible deal, in fact I'm not sure that I've ever seen better

Nice. Heat. But when did people start needing 8GB of RAM?!?

Cold - I personally don't like Acer and:

What thoroughly useless graphs - what do they show ??? Malfunction for what ? CPU failure, a key dropped off ?
And the second graph is ridiculous - 3 year projection ?? Why show that ? Pointless.

Just shows that there are statistics that can show absolutely anything. I'm sure there is a graph somewhere that shows the sky is actually green !!

Well, its a 'hypothetical' good deal, as this £300 laptop does not exist in stock. If it did, it would be the deal of the century. ive phoned them up to see if this was available and was going to go straight there to get it - two different staff members in the right department, know nothing about it. No heat

serious heat for the effort

Good find but try getting it out of Stratford without getting mugged.

I have got ACER laptop but please don't buy. ACER is no good about warranty

I had he same problem with acre. Getting laptop repaired by them took months.

Just in case someone's is going for that deal - that device is faulty, as it could not finish the initial procedures /due to screen being faulty they said/. It has been withdrawn from sale. The other laptops are available though.

Cenobite

Good price for the spec, but from experience Acer batteries are naf.

My i5 Acer last's 6hrs which is enough for me.

Yeah don't really know about any major issue with Acer batteries, everything else normally a bit cheap and badly designed but the batteries are normally good.

Maybe they've improved recently. I bought one a few years ago & family members then followed suit. Within a year we all had non mobile laptops. Genuine replacements are pretty darn expensive & I'd rather avoid the copies. The Dell & Lenovo laptops I have are fine, but they're the business models rather than the generic home use models.

Is this any good as for gaming as need one for Xmas prezzie. or what spec should I be looking to get, as I am a noob !:D

Why don't laptops come with ssd's? makes such a huge performance difference.
