At the risk of this turning into a political argument. The current British approach is the correct approach, further harder measures will come in days and weeks to come. There is no need to panic and kneejerk.

Cool product by the way, heat!

My belief is that the current approach will lead to a big spike, swamp the nhs and lead to many extra unnecessary deaths.

I really want to be proven wrong though.

Don't worry, if the NHS fails there's gonna be plenty of private companies to take over. I'm not saying the plan is to starve the NHS and then make it fail but if I was a big mean money machine and wanted to break into the UK health market that's exactly what I'd ask my friends to do...

It boils down to saving the economy over saving lives. This is actually a war against a disease and the faster we cotton on and treat it as such, the faster life will go back to normality. The government's approach is right if you can control people, but that's the flaw. People are muppets and they'll do what they want. The NHS will be overrun unless we ditch the ecomony and prioritise lives. It may already be too late to change course given that the actual figures of infections are probably anywhere between 16,000 and 50, 000. Just my tuppence worth!

Doubt the private companies could assist with the Corona virus but I get your point.
Anyway, back to the deal (it is after all a deal site!)

Disagree a shortish very sharp hit to really slow down the spread will produce a much more gentle peak. The clowns approach will make it last for longer with a higher peak and overrun the nhs, kill 75% of bars, restaurants, cafes, many shops leading to financial contagion. Increased uk borrowing likely to lead to increased interest rates when we have to borrow as a country from the global markets.
Thanks
Just don't go hunting for JAW's........ Your gonna need a bigger tube.......
