Clontarf triple distilled malt whisky, good price for a very nice single malt whiskey .

Whiskey.

With a name like Clontarf, it's Irish and not Scottish.

Clontarf Single Malt is triple distilled at Bushmills distillery and aged in bourbon casks. Soft, fruity style! 'Beautifully fresh barley, almost barley sugar, with light sinews of oak; long intense barley but with the vanilla standing tallest at the death as welcome spices finally gather; beautiful in its simplicity, this has eschewed complexity for delicious minimalism.' 90.5 Points Jim Murray's Whiskey Bible.

Bushmills tripled distilled 70cl is cheaper at ASDA £16 down from £20 (Tescos has it on offer at £16.50)

Aldi deals aren't sometimes what they seem.

Bushmills Original Bottling Note
The classic Irish blend, Bushmills Original is made up of grain whiskey matured for five years before blending with malt whiskeys. Triple distilled and very supple.

But it will be what it says on the label - single malt not blended - if the OP is right.

Sure you can get cheaper whiskeys that's not the point. The point is that the price for this whiskey is good.

Glen Moray Single Malt Whisky (700ml) at ASDA for £18 - I don't think Aldi is any cheaper - a lot of advertising budget but sometimes the deals arent really deals.

You do realise that diffrent whiskeys have diffrent tastes? That's why you pay more from some than other. It's would be like saying a Samsung s4 is the same as an iphone 6 yes they are both mobile phone but they are diffrent. I'm not sure a lot of people understand how this site is ment to work.

Yes naturally I realise that different whiskeys can have different flavours- however its unlikely that people have tried this particular brand.

My aim was to illustrate that Aldi isn't necessarily selling a single malt for a bargain price - 20 quid for a decent whiskey isn't such a bargain:

Here's tasting notes for both...

Glen Moray Classic
is the distillery's entry level single malt, aged for an average of seven years in ex-bourbon casks, of which a high percentage are first fill - easy drinking, honeyed and excellent value.
Clontarf Single Malt
A charcoal-mellowed single malt from a mystery Irish distillery, this is a very popular dram due to its smoothness and light, mellow palate.

Might I suggest that you spend a little time in a bar that specialises in whisky.
Try various samples and compare what you get for your money.
Then come back and review your comments.

But you are comparing whisky to whiskey.
So your point remains invalid.

In Ireland the cost for the is 18.49 Euros which is around £13.12p so it's a lot more expensive over here

Import costs and UK taxes possibly account for that.

Awful whiskey, not worth £19
