dandoc2 posted a great deal for the Blu Ray version of this film earlier. If you're not lucky enough to have gone HD yet, you can get the 3 DVD set of the Ultimate Edition of this film a bit cheaper from Amazon (£6.97 if your order qualifies for free delivery).

This never-before-released edition of Spielberg's groundbreaking alien film contains all three versions of the sci-fi blockbuster. Packaged in a glorious, special edition black box set and packed with special features, this is perfect for both film buffs and newcomers to the genre.

I posted this for people who, like me, love this film and want to own all 3 versions. Admittedly its sad, but I can live with it.

If they are not the same editions why post cheaper alternatives, the OP is for the 30th anniversary edition, neither of which yours are.

P.s watched this loads of times and didn't realise there were different verisons. Does anyone know what the differences were?

This is the same edition at ]The Hut for £8.93 . If you use Quidco (5%) then it works out the same as Amazon.

However if you're buying something else at Amazon and can get free delivery for spending £15, or you use Amazon Prime, then your deal at £6.97 is much better. For that reason I'll add some heat. ;-)

The collectors and special editions have extra content, including scenes inside the mothership at the end. I still remember watching the original at the cinema back in 1977. It was awesome. If you have Blu Ray, then see dandoc2's earlier post for a good deal.

I did read your post properly! see its written in my post that they are … I did read your post properly! see its written in my post that they are not the same as yoursI just think that anyone who likes this film has already got it on DVD and £8.21 is a lot to pay for yet another slightly different edition of an old film no matter how good it may be

I was just trying to make sure that people reading my post understood that there are different versions available. I agree that if someone likes, rather than loves, this movie, there are cheaper alternatives.

I've updated the P&P for this as I had miscaculated. Its a little less than I thought (I had added in VAT, which Amazon apparently don't charge on DVD orders).

Why alter this post that originally told me to read your posts properly … Why alter this post that originally told me to read your posts properly and noy as you state a typo?

Because I realised that my initial reply was unfair to you, so edited it straight away (before I even realised you had replied a second time). Would anyone reading this please note that v2drinkers was not unfairly commenting on my posting. I apologise if it appears that way. It was the result of an initial error on my part.

Anyone who doesn't want to wait for the postman can get it instore at HMV. I saw it today but I can't remember if it was £8 or £8.99. Comes in a nice box with a booklet too so pretty good value, especially if you don't own it already. I already have the 2 disc version otherwise I would have gone for it.

Its £16.99 on the HMV web site, so they must have an instore-only deal on? Worth a look if anyones passing.
